The 1994 Fort Lauderdale Kicks season was the first and only season and of the new team in the United States Interregional Soccer League. This year, the team finished in sixth place in the Southeast division. They did not make the playoffs. After the Fort Lauderdale Strikers club folded the team in the American Professional Soccer League in 1994, the Fort Lauderdale Kicks and the Strikers joined forces. The following year the name Fort Lauderdale Kicks were folded and a new Fort Lauderdale Strikers team was fielded in the USISL.

Schedule

Each team had a 20-game schedule, with two games counting as Designated Makeup Games (DMGs). DMGs are plugged in for any game that was cancelled during the season.

Scoring

Teams in the Northeast and Midwest have points that reflect the addition of a 1-point corner kick bonus per game. The standings published by the USISL list only the wins, losses, goals scored, goals allowed and total points. They do not provide the number of wins or losses that came through shootouts. They also do not provide the number of bonus points coming from goals or corner kicks. [1] [2]

The North American Soccer League (NASL) was the top-level major professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1968 to 1984. It was the first soccer league to be successful on a national scale in the United States. The league final was called the Soccer Bowl from 1975 to 1983 and the Soccer Bowl Series in its final year, 1984. The league was headed by Commissioner Phil Woosnam from 1969 to 1983. The Strikers finished the regular season in second place in the Eastern Division of the North American Soccer League's American Conference, and qualified for the playoffs. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

The 1984 Minnesota Strikers season of the North American Soccer League was the first season of the new team, and the club's eighteenth season in professional soccer. It is also the first ever incarnation of the club's new name. Previously, they were known as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. This was the first time the club played in the Western Division. The 1995 Fort Lauderdale Strikers season was the first season of the new team in the United States Interregional Soccer League, playing in the USISL Professional League. It was also the twenty-ninth season of the club in professional soccer. Previously the club had fielded a team in the American Soccer League. After they folded that team, the club joined with the Fort Lauderdale Kicks in 1994 and created this team for the 1995 season. This year, the team finished in fourth place in the Southeast Division and did not make the playoffs. This would be the last incarnation of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers name until the 2011 team, as the club folded this team in the same year. The club fielded a new team known as the Florida Strikers in the 1996 season, playing in the USISL Premier League.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Soccer Bowl 2014</span> Soccer match

Soccer Bowl 2014 was the North American Soccer League's postseason championship match of the 2014 season to determine the NASL Champion. The event was contested in a one-game match between the San Antonio Scorpions and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. San Antonio defeated the New York Cosmos 2-1 in their semi-final match while Fort Lauderdale defeated Minnesota United FC in a penalty shootout 5–4 after a 1–1 tie in the other semi-final game. The match was played on November 15, 2014, at Toyota Field, in San Antonio, Texas and televised live on ESPN3, ONE World Sports, NASLLive.com as well as on San Antonio's MeTV KSAT 12.2 and Fort Lauderdale's Sofloradio.com. This was the Scorpions first Soccer Bowl championship. The Soccer Bowl trophy is the third oldest men's professional outdoor soccer league prize in the United States.

The 1993 Vancouver 86ers season was the club's eighth year of existence, as well as their first as a Division 2 club in the franchise model of U.S.-based soccer leagues. After their 1992 CSL season, the CSL folded and the Whitecaps joined the American Professional Soccer League for the 1993 season. They continued the tradition of excellence from the CSL capturing the Commissioner’s Cup but losing the playoff semifinal in a shootout to the Los Angeles Salsa.
