The 1995 FIVB Women's World Cup was a volleyball tournament held from 3 to 17 November 1995 in Japan. Twelve national teams played in cities all over Japan for the right to a fast lane ticket into the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, US.

Alejandrina Mireya Luis Hernández, often referred to as Mireya, is a Cuban former volleyball player and three-time Olympic gold medalist. She won gold medals at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics with the Cuban women's national volleyball team. She was the captain of the Cuban team from the late 1980s until her retirement.

Robertlandy Simón Aties is a Cuban volleyball player who is a member of the Cuban national volleyball team. He played with the Cuban national team from 2005 to 2010, and rejoined the team in 2019. He currently plays for the Italian club Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. He has won the 2009 NORCECA Championship, was a silver medalist of the 2010 World Championship, and twice was a South Korean V-League Champion.

Marlenis Costa Blanco, more commonly known as Marlenis Costa, is a Cuban former volleyball player and three-time Olympic champion. Costa was a member of the Cuban women's national volleyball team that won gold medals in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. As a setter, she was one of the key players in the dominance of the Cuban national team in the 1990s. Due to her versatility, she was also an effective attacker.

The 1991 FIVB Men's World Cup was held from 22 November to 1 December 1991 in Japan. The World Cup consisted of 12 teams: champions of 5 geographic areas, the four runners-up, the host country and two guest teams.

The 1993 FIVB World Grand Prix was the first edition of the women's volleyball tournament, annually arranged by FIVB. It was played by eight countries from 28 May to 30 June 1993. The final round was staged in Hong Kong.

The 2018 Boys' Youth NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the eleventh edition of the bi-annual volleyball tournament. It was held in San Jose, Costa Rica from 4 June to 11 June. Seven countries competed in the tournament. Cuba won the tournament and qualified for the 2019 Boys' U19 World Championship along with the United States. Christian Thondike won the MVP award.

The 2019 Boys' Youth Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the third edition of the bi-annual Continental Cup, played by seven countries from April 22–30, 2019 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Cuba won the tournament beating Mexico in the finals. As Cuba had already qualified for the U19 World Championship through the NORCECA Championship, Mexico and the Dominican Republic qualified instead. Jose Miguel Gutierrez won the MVP award.

The 2019 Men's Junior Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the fourth edition of the bi-annual men's volleyball tournament. Eight teams participated in this edition held in Tarapoto, Peru. Cuba defeated Canada in the final match to win the tournament. As Cuba had already qualified for the 2019 Men's U21 World Championship through the NORCECA championship and Canada qualified through world ranking, Puerto Rico as the Bronze medalist qualified for the World Championship. José Romero won the MVP award.
