The 3rd Shanghai International Film Festival was held between October 24 and December 2, 1997. The Film Festival was divided into four activities:

Gong Li is a Chinese-Singaporean actress. Regarded as one of the best actresses in China today, she is known for her versatility and naturalistic performance. She starred in three of the four Chinese-language films that have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
Shanghai Triad is a 1995 Chinese crime-drama film, directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Gong Li. The script is written by Bi Feiyu based on Li Xiao's 1994 novel Rules of a Clan (门规). The film is set in the criminal underworld of 1930s Shanghai, Republic of China and spans seven days. Shanghai Triad's Chinese title reads "Row, row, row to Grandma Bridge", refers to a well known traditional Chinese lullaby.
Hou Hsiao-hsien is a retired Mainland Chinese-born Taiwanese film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He is a leading figure in world cinema and in Taiwan's New Wave cinema movement. He won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1989 for his film A City of Sadness (1989), and the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 for The Assassin (2015). Other highly regarded works of his include The Puppetmaster (1993) and Flowers of Shanghai (1998).
The Moscow International Film Festival is a film festival first held in Moscow in 1935 and became regular since 1959. From its inception to 1959, it was held every second year in July, alternating with the Karlovy Vary festival. The festival has been held annually since 1999. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIAPF paused the accreditation of the festival until further notice.
Dee Dee Bridgewater is an American jazz singer and actress. She is a three-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, as well as a Tony Award-winning stage actress. For 23 years, she was the host of National Public Radio's syndicated radio show JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater. She is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization.

The Chicago International Film Festival is an annual film festival held every fall. Founded in 1964 by Michael Kutza, it is the longest-running competitive film festival in North America. Its logo is a stark, black and white close up of the composite eyes of early film actresses Theda Bara, Pola Negri, and Mae Murray, set as repeated frames in a strip of film.
The International Film Festival of Kerala is a film festival held annually in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India. This film festival started in 1996 and is hosted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. The festival is held in November or December every year and is acknowledged as one of the leading cultural events in India.
The Shanghai International Film Festival is the largest film festival in Asia and China's longest-running international cinema event. The first festival was established in October 1993. It is the only Chinese festival accredited by the FIAPF.
The 1st Shanghai International Film Festival was the inaugural film festival of the now A-grade Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). It was held for one week in Shanghai between October 7 and October 14, 1993. The festival saw participation of 167 films from 33 different countries and 300,000 attendees.
The 2nd Shanghai International Film Festival was held between October 28 and November 12, 1995. The festival marked the 90 year anniversary of the first ever Chinese film, 1905's Dingjun Mountain. 232 films from 46 countries participated in the Festival, 19 of which were officially selections for competition. Swiss director Wolfgang Panzer's Broken Silence won the Golden Goblet for best film.
Yu Nan is a Chinese actress. Born in Dalian, Yu Nan studied at the Beijing Film Academy, where she graduated in 1999.
The 5th Shanghai International Film Festival was film festival held between June 9 and June 17, 2001. 164 films were screened including 46 from China. 14 films were entered into the Golden Cup competition, with Antitrust from the United States winning the grand prize.
The 2007 Shanghai International Film Festival was the 10th such festival devoted to international cinema to be held in the city of Shanghai in the People's Republic of China. It was held from June 16 to June 24, 2007. It was one of twelve film festivals to be accredited in 2007 by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF).
The 2008 Shanghai International Film Festival is the 11th such festival devoted to international cinema to be held in Shanghai, China. It was held from June 14–22, 2008. Hong Kong film director Wong Kar-wai was the head of jury at this year's film festival along with other jury members such as Chinese-American actress Joan Chen, legendary Danish director Bille August and Israeli stage actress Gila Almagor.
The 2009 Shanghai International Film Festival is the 12th such festival devoted to international cinema to be held in Shanghai, China. It was held from June 13-21, 2009.
The 2011 Shanghai International Film Festival was the 14th such festival devoted to international cinema held in Shanghai, China. It took place from June 11 to June 19, 2011. The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Shanghai Grand Theater.
The Pingyao International Film Festival (PYIFF), officially as "Pingyao Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon International Film Festival", is a film festival held in Pingyao, Shanxi, China. It was launched in October 2017 by Jia Zhangke, a Chinese film director, screenwriter and leading figure of the "Sixth Generation" movement of Chinese cinema and prestigious festival director Marco Müller. The festival's goal is to bring attention to works done by young, lesser known directors in the Chinese film industry, as well as to encourage communication and cooperation between Chinese and international filmmakers, mainly showing films from Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa.

The 2019 Shanghai International Film Festival was the 22nd such festival devoted to international cinema held in Shanghai, China.
