Iranian teams have been active participants of RoboCup events since 1998. The number of Iranian teams has been largely increasing over the past years. Thereby, the need to have a regional event seemed rather necessary. Furthermore, since the overall number world interested teams in RoboCup has increased; regional events may and can be a proper field for RoboCup leagues Technical Committees to see teams qualities for RoboCup World Competitions. IranOpen is a place for teams willing to take part in RoboCup World Competitions in order to show their qualities and standards. It is also a place for fresh teams to gain experience and become ready to join the world teams.

Robocup Rescue Simulation is an education and research project intended to promote the development of robotic agents for search and rescue. The project was initiated in reaction to the Great Hanshin earthquake, which hit Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, on 17 January 1995, killing more than six thousand people, most of them in the city of Kobe.

Bellarine Secondary College is a multi-campus school on the Bellarine Peninsula, Australia. The college consists of 2 campuses, one in Ocean Grove, and the main campus in Drysdale. The larger and main campus in Drysdale holds the students in years 9, 10, 11 and 12, while the smaller Ocean Grove campus holds the students in Years 7 and 8. The Drysdale campus holds around 1000 approx. students, and the Ocean Grove campus accommodates around 400 students. It has a SEAL class, which means the students are able to do years 7–10 in 3, not 4 years. This also means that students have 3 years to do VCE, not 2.

Tulsa Athletic is an American soccer team and are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States. 2013 was their inaugural season in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), which is a national league at the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. They compete in the NPSL's Heartland Conference. The team maintains amateur status under NPSL rules, allowing college players to participate without losing their collegiate eligibility.
