The 19th Lima Film Festival, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, took place from 7 to 15 August 2015 in Lima, Peru. [1] [2] The awards were announced on 15 August 2015, with Embrace of the Serpent winning the Trophy Spondylus. [3]
The event paid tribute to the careers of German filmmaker Werner Herzog, Arturo Ripstein and Paz Alicia Garciadiego, renowned figures in Mexican cinema, and Peruvian actor Gustavo Bueno. [1]

No One Writes to the Colonel is a 1999 Spanish-language film directed by Arturo Ripstein. It was an international co-production between France, Spain and Mexico. It is based on the eponymous novella by Colombian author and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. The film was also selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 72nd Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist.
Ciro Guerra is a Colombian film director and screenwriter. He is best known for his 2015 film Embrace of the Serpent, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, and for The Wind Journeys, selected as the Colombian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
The Lima Film Festival is a film festival held annually by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Its original name was Festival Elcine. The official name has been Festival of Lima, Encuentro Latinoamericano de Cine since 2007.
The 65th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 5 to 15 February 2015, with American film director Darren Aronofsky as the president of the jury. German film director Wim Wenders was presented with the Honorary Golden Bear. The first seven films of the festival were announced on 15 December 2014.
Embrace of the Serpent is a 2015 internationally co-produced adventure drama film directed by Ciro Guerra, and written by Guerra and Jacques Toulemonde Vidal. Shot almost entirely in black and white, the film follows two journeys made thirty years apart by the indigenous shaman Karamakate in the Colombian Amazonian jungle, one with Theo, a German ethnographer, and the other with Evan, an American botanist, both of whom are searching for the rare plant yakruna. It was inspired by the travel diaries of Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes, and dedicated to lost Amazonian cultures.
The 3rd Platino Awards were presented at the Centro de Convenciones in Punta del Este, Uruguay on July 24, 2016, to honour the best in Ibero-American films of 2015.

It is about Reinaldo whose relationship with his overprotective mother will change when he meets his teenage girlfriend Rosaura who wants to travel to Lima.
Autoerotic is a 2021 Peruvian coming-of-age drama film written, co-produced and directed by Andrea Hoyos in her directorial debut. It stars Rafaella Mey and Micaela Céspedes accompanied by María del Carmen Gutiérrez, Wendy Vásquez, Renato Rueda, César Ritter, Beto Benites and Laynol Zavaleta. It is about a 15-year-old teenager who explores her sexuality through an online dating program.

It is the third and final installment of Calero's memory trilogy, following One Last Afternoon (2016) and The Most Feared Skin (2023).
