The 19th Lima Film Festival, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, took place from 7 to 15 August 2015 in Lima, Peru. [1] [2] The awards were announced on 15 August 2015, with Embrace of the Serpent winning the Trophy Spondylus. [3]

The event paid tribute to the careers of German filmmaker Werner Herzog, Arturo Ripstein and Paz Alicia Garciadiego, renowned figures in Mexican cinema, and Peruvian actor Gustavo Bueno. [1]

No One Writes to the Colonel is a 1999 Spanish-language film directed by Arturo Ripstein. It was an international co-production between France, Spain and Mexico. It is based on the eponymous novella by Colombian author and Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez. The film was also selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 72nd Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist.

<i>Embrace of the Serpent</i> 2015 film

Embrace of the Serpent is a 2015 internationally co-produced adventure drama film directed by Ciro Guerra, and written by Guerra and Jacques Toulemonde Vidal. Shot almost entirely in black and white, the film follows two journeys made thirty years apart by the indigenous shaman Karamakate in the Colombian Amazonian jungle, one with Theo, a German ethnographer, and the other with Evan, an American botanist, both of whom are searching for the rare plant yakruna. It was inspired by the travel diaries of Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes, and dedicated to lost Amazonian cultures.
