The 20th Lima Film Festival, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, took place from 5 to 13 August 2016 in Lima, Peru. [1] [2] The awards were announced on 13 August 2016, with Dark Beast winning the Trophy Spondylus. [3]

The event paid tribute to the careers of three individuals: Edgar Saba, former director of the Lima Film Festival, Belgian filmmaker Luc Dardenne, and Brazilian actor Lázaro Ramos. [4]

The Erection of Toribio Bardelli is a 2023 black tragicomedy film written and directed by Adrián Saba. An international co-production between Peru and Brazil, the film stars Gustavo Bueno, with Gisela Ponce de León, Rodrigo Sánchez Patiño, Michele Abascal and Lucélia Santos. The film was selected as the Peruvian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated

Adrián Saba is a Peruvian-Spanish film director and screenwriter. He is best known for writing and directing the films The Cleaner and The Erection of Toribio Bardelli, both were selected as the Peruvian entry in the Best International Feature Film at the 86th Academy Awards and the 96th Academy Awards respectively. He also wrote and directed the film The Dreamer which premiered at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
