The 20th Lima Film Festival, organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, took place from 5 to 13 August 2016 in Lima, Peru. [1] [2] The awards were announced on 13 August 2016, with Dark Beast winning the Trophy Spondylus. [3]
The event paid tribute to the careers of three individuals: Edgar Saba, former director of the Lima Film Festival, Belgian filmmaker Luc Dardenne, and Brazilian actor Lázaro Ramos. [4]

The Lima Film Festival is a film festival held annually by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Its original name was Festival Elcine. The official name has been Festival of Lima, Encuentro Latinoamericano de Cine since 2007.
The 65th Cannes Film Festival took place from 16 to 27 May 2012. Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti was the president of the jury for the main competition. French actress Bérénice Bejo hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke won the Palme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for the drama film Amour.
Chameleon is a 2016 Chilean psychological thriller film written and directed by Jorge Riquelme Serrano. It had its world premiere at the 2016 BFI London Film Festival where it was selected to compete for the Sutherland Award.

An international co-production between Peru and Brazil, the film stars Gustavo Bueno, with Gisela Ponce de León, Rodrigo Sánchez Patiño, Michele Abascal and Lucélia Santos. The film was selected as the Peruvian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated
Yana-Wara is a 2023 Peruvian mystery drama film written and co-directed by Óscar Catacora along with Tito Catacora. It is the posthumous work of Óscar Catacora, following his death on November 26, 2021, while filming in El Collao Province due to appendicitis. The film was selected as the Peruvian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards and for the Best Ibero-American Film at the 39th Goya Awards.
Adrián Saba is a Peruvian-Spanish film director and screenwriter. He is best known for writing and directing the films The Cleaner and The Erection of Toribio Bardelli, both were selected as the Peruvian entry in the Best International Feature Film at the 86th Academy Awards and the 96th Academy Awards respectively. He also wrote and directed the film The Dreamer which premiered at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
Reinas, released internationally as Queens, is a 2024 coming-of-age drama film directed by Klaudia Reynicke from a screenplay she co-wrote with Diego Vega which stars Abril Gjurinovic, Luana Vega, Jimena Lindo, Gonzalo Molina, and Susi Sánchez. It is a Swiss-Peruvian-Spanish international co-production. The film was selected as the Swiss entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.

Reinaldo Cutipa is a 2023 Peruvian drama film directed by Oscar Gonzales Apaza and written by Gonzales and Jaime Luna Victoria. It stars Jesús Luque Colque, Sylvia Majo and Danitza Pilco. It is about Reinaldo whose relationship with his overprotective mother will change when he meets his teenage girlfriend Rosaura who wants to travel to Lima.
Open-Pit is a 2023 Peruvian-French experimental docudrama film directed, written, co-produced and co-edited by Felipe Esparza Pérez in his directorial debut. It is about a father and son separated by the death of the wife/mother whose paths will cross again.
