The 1st Hollywood Critics Association Creative Arts Awards, presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, took place on February 24, 2023. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] The winners were announced on the official HCA Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, while the 6th Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards took place on the same day at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills. Everything Everywhere All at Once led the nominations with six, followed by The Batman and Top Gun: Maverick with five each. [9] The former and Babylon won the most awards with two wins apiece. [4]

A shortlist committee, led by Erik Anderson, AwardsWatch contributor and HCA member, was created and tasked with generating twelve category shortlists for the HCA Creative Arts Awards. Six more HCA members worked alongside Anderson to build and shape this year's shortlists. Once the lists were finalized, the shortlists were sent out to the HCA membership and were used to vote on this year's nominees. [9]

The Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) is a 501 c6 membership-based non-profit organization of critics, entertainment journalists, content creators, industry influencers, and creatives. The vision and mission of the HCA is to amplify diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and culture within the world of entertainment. It was founded in 2016 as the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society and renamed in 2019 to Hollywood Critics Association. In 2023, Hollywood Critics Association ceased operations and a new organization called Hollywood Creative Alliance took its place, with its awards called the Astra Awards.

<i>Marcel the Shell with Shoes On</i> (2021 film) American film by Dean Fleischer Camp

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is a 2021 American live-action/stop-motion animated mockumentary film, co-written and directed by Dean Fleischer Camp in his feature directorial debut. It is based on and serves both as a direct stand-alone sequel and prequel to the series of Marcel the Shell shorts written by Jenny Slate and Fleischer Camp. Slate reprises her voice role as Marcel, an anthropomorphic seashell. Fleischer Camp, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Mann, Lesley Stahl, and Isabella Rossellini also star. The film follows Marcel, a shell who lives with his grandmother, Connie, after posting a short film online bringing Marcel millions of passionate fans and a new hope of reuniting with his long-lost family.

The winners of the 5th Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Film Awards, presented by the Hollywood Critics Association, were revealed on July 1, 2022, on the HCA's official Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube pages.

The 6th Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards, presented by the Hollywood Critics Association, took place on the evening of February 24, 2023, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills, while the winners of the 1st Hollywood Critics Association Creative Arts Film Awards were announced earlier that day via social media platforms. The nominations for both events were announced on the HCA official YouTube channel and app on December 8 and December 15, 2022, respectively; Jalyn Hall, Jude Hill, and Madeleine McGraw announced the December 15 nominations.

The 3rd Astra TV Awards, presented by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, initially scheduled to take place on August 12 and 13, 2023, took place on January 8, 2024, at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, and streamed live on YouTube. The ceremony, produced by DIGA Studios and Content.23 Media, was hosted by comedian Aida Rodriguez. The nominations were announced on July 11, 2023.
