Kim Sang-bum (born August 14, 1954) is a South Korean film editor, and filmmaker, best known for his collaborations with director Park Chan-wook.
Park has the longest-standing partnership is with Editor Kim Sang-bum. Their relationship dates back to when Park, then a college student, joined the directing department led by editor-in-chief Kim Sang-bum. Kim Sang-bum's late father, Editor Kim Hee-soo, was involved in Park Chan-wook's debut film, The Moon Is... the Sun's Dream as editor. Since the film Joint Security Area (1998), Kim Sang-bum has edited all of Park Chan-wook's works up until The Handmaiden , except for Stoker (2013). [1]

His films, which often blend crime, mystery and thriller with other genres, and have gained notoriety for their cinematography, framing, black humor and often brutal subject matters.

It is inspired by the 2002 novel Fingersmith by Welsh writer Sarah Waters, with the setting changed from Victorian era Britain to Korea under Japanese colonial rule.

Life Is Beautiful is a 2022 South Korean musical, road film directed by Choi Kook-hee and starring Yum Jung-ah, Ryu Seung-ryong, Park Se-wan and Ong Seong-wu. It is a musical about Oh Se-yeon who asks her husband to help her find her childhood sweetheart as her birthday gift. Both embark on journey to find him. The film had its premiere at 36th Fribourg International Film Festival on March 19, 2022, and was released in theaters on September 28 2022 in South Korea.
Emergency Declaration is a 2021 South Korean disaster film written and directed by Han Jae-rim, starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Byung-hun, Jeon Do-yeon, Kim Nam-gil, Im Si-wan, Kim So-jin and Park Hae-joon. Filming restarted on September 12, 2020, after a postponement due to the COVID-19 resurgence in August 2020 and wrapped on October 24, 2020.
Decision to Leave is a 2022 South Korean neo-noir romantic mystery film directed, co-written and produced by Park Chan-wook. The film follows married detective Jang Hae-jun, whose investigation of a man's death leads him to the man's widow, Chinese immigrant Song Seo-rae. Hae-jun's investigation of Seo-rae as a suspect gradually leads him to develop feelings towards her.
Hansan: Rising Dragon is a 2022 South Korean historical war action film directed by Kim Han-min. The sequel to 2014's The Admiral: Roaring Currents, the film is the second installment in the Yi Sun-sin trilogy. It stars an ensemble cast led by Park Hae-il as the Korean naval commander Yi Sun-sin. The film depicts the historical Battle of Hansan which took place five years before the Battle of Myeongnyang depicted in The Admiral. It was released on July 27, 2022 in IMAX, 4DX and ScreenX formats.

It aired live on KBS2. 18 categories were awarded at the 43rd edition of awards ceremony, hosted by Kim Hye-soo and Yoo Yeon-seok. The nominations for 15 categories were announced for the Korean films released from October 15, 2021 to October 30, 2022 on November 8, 2022, Decision to Leave got 13 nominations in 13 categories, and won 7 awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Music, and Popular Star Awards.
The 16th Asian Film Awards was held on March 12, 2023 at Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium in Hong Kong Palace Museum. The nominations were announced on January 6, 2023. At the 16th edition of the awards ceremony, 30 films from 22 regions and countries were shortlisted for 81 nominations. South Korean film Decision to Leave received 10 nominations most for any film whereas Drive My Car with eight nominations was second.
