Ataullah Mengal was a Pakistani politician and feudal figure. He was the head of the Mengal tribe until he nominated one of his grandsons, Sardar Asad Ullah Mengal, as his tribal successor. He was also the 1st Chief Minister of Balochistan during Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's premiership from 1 May 1972 to 13 February 1973. He died on 2 September 2021 in Karachi.
The Balochistan National Party or Balochistan National Party (Mengal) (Urdu: بلوچستان نيشنل پارٹی ; Balūcistān Nēśanal Pārtī ) is a political party in Balochistan, Pakistan. BNP believes in more provincial rights and greater autonomy for Baluchistan province through peaceful and democratic struggle.
Akhtar Mengal is a Pakistani politician from Balochistan who is the chairman of Balochistan National Party (Mengal). He is also serving as a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024. He previously served as the Chief Minister of Balochistan between 1997 and 1998 and later as a member of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly. Mengal also served as a member of National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till August 2023.
General elections were held in Pakistan on 10 October 2002 to elect the 12th National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies. The elections were held under the military government of Pervez Musharraf. The two mainstream parties, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) had several restrictions imposed on them and their leaders Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were in exile. In order to address the restrictions, PPP created the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) under the leadership of Ameen Faheem, to contest the elections on its behalf. The PML-N meanwhile, suffering from the party's division into two factions: one that remained loyal to Sharif and were contesting the elections under the leadership of Javed Hashmi, and the other which had broken away to form the pro-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Azhar. The emergence of the PML-Q marked the beginning of multi-party politics in the country, bringing an end to the decade-long two-party system between the PPP and PML-N.
Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi was the 20th governor of Balochistan Province since 28 February 2008 to 9 June 2013 as well as the chief executive of Balochistan since 14 January 2013. He is the Nawab and Tumandar of the Magsi Tribe, a former governor and a former chief executive of Balochistan, a senior politician and the former chief minister of Balochistan province in the Benazir Bhutto government of 1993–1996. Nawab was appointed as the chief executive of Balochistan on 13 January 2013 after the sacking of Aslam Raisani's unpopular government and imposition of Governor's Rule. It was the main after effect of the January 2013 Pakistan bombings. Nawab Magsi did his schooling from Aitchison College, Lahore. He first came to politics in 1977, when he won as an independent candidate seat from his native constituency in the provincial assembly. However, his family was involved in Balochistan politics before Pakistani independence. He served in many provincial ministries and also worked in the Home Ministry in the 1990s. In 1993, his coalition won majority of seats and he became Chief Minister of Balochistan.

He was the Provincial Minister of Balochistan for Local Government and Rural Development, in office from 8 September 2018 til 12 August 2023. He had been a member of Provincial Assembly of the Balochistan from August 2018 till August 2023. Previously he served as Provincial Minister of the Balochistan for Food, and Law and Parliamentary Affairs from 30 August 2018 to 8 September 2018.
Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali is a Pakistani politician who served as the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly from 4 June 2013 to 2015. Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali served as the 9th Chief Minister of Balochistan from 13 August 1998 till 12 October 1999 when Army Chief General Pervaiz Mushraf took over the Government. He served two terms as Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2006 to March 2012. Jan Mohammad Jamali contested the 2013 elections from PB25 and won on the seat of PML-N. In 2018, he again contested from PB14 and won on the ticket of BAP. He is a well-known personality throughout Balochistan.

He also served as the 16th Chief Minister of Balochistan, between August 2018 and October 2021. He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan from August 2018 till August 2023.
Senate elections were held in Pakistan on 5 March 2015 to elect the replacements for 52 retiring senators. Those retiring include chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and deputy chairman Sabir Ali Baloch of the upper house. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the majority party in Senate, would lose 21 members, followed by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz would lose 9 and Awami National Party would lose 6 members.

He was succeeded by his predecessor Shehbaz Sharif. He assumed membership in the Upper House of Pakistan in March 2018. Before taking on the role of caretaker prime minister, Kakar had resigned from the upper house of parliament. Subsequently, he publicly declared his resignation from both the Senate and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), a political party he established in 2018.

Syed Ehsan Shah is a Pakistani politician who had been a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Balochistan from August 2018 till August 2023.
Provincial elections were held in Balochistan on 8 February 2024 to elect a new provincial legislature. On 5 August 2023, after the approval of the results of the 2023 digital census by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, elections have been delayed for several months, as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023. On 2 November 2023, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced, in agreement with the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, that the elections will be held on 8 February 2024. This election will be held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
