The Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) is a Pakistani political party and an electoral extension of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). [3] It was created in 2002 by Amin Fahim after Pervez Musharraf's government imposed restrictions on the PPP and its chairperson Benazir Bhutto to participate in Pakistani politics. [4]

In January 2017, Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the President of PPPP. [5]

It, alongside the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, is one of the three largest political parties of Pakistan.

Asif Ali Zardari is a Pakistani politician serving as the 14th president of Pakistan since 10 March 2024, having held the same office from 2008 to 2013. He is the president of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians and was the co-chairperson of Pakistan People's Party from December 2007 until December 2015.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2002 Pakistani general election</span>

General elections were held in Pakistan on 10 October 2002 to elect the 12th National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies. The elections were held under the military government of Pervez Musharraf. The two mainstream parties, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) had several restrictions imposed on them and their leaders Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif were in exile. In order to address the restrictions, PPP created the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) under the leadership of Ameen Faheem, to contest the elections on its behalf. The PML-N meanwhile, suffering from the party's division into two factions: one that remained loyal to Sharif and were contesting the elections under the leadership of Javed Hashmi, and the other which had broken away to form the pro-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Azhar. The emergence of the PML-Q marked the beginning of multi-party politics in the country, bringing an end to the decade-long two-party system between the PPP and PML-N.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a Pakistani politician who served as the 37th Minister of Foreign Affairs, in office from 27 April 2022 to 10 August 2023. He became the chairman of Pakistan People's Party in 2007 following his mother's assassination. Bilawal belongs to the Bhutto family, a prominent political family of Pakistan and is the son of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari, and the grandson of former President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Bilawal was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 13 August 2018 till 10 August 2023. He was re-elected as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan in the 2024 Pakistani general election from newly formed constituency NA-194 Larkana-I, taking oath in February 2024.

Azra Fazal Pechuho is a Pakistani politician who was the Provincial Minister of Sindh for Health, and Population Welfare, in office from August 2018 till August 2023. She had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from August 2018 till August 2023. She was a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, from 2002 to May 2018. She is serving as member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh since February 2024.

Faryal Talpur is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2008 to May 2018 and a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from August 2018 till August 2023, as well as the President of the Women Wing of the Pakistan People's Party.

An indirect presidential election was held on 6 September 2008 in Pakistan. The Electoral College of Pakistan – a joint sitting of the Senate, National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies – elected a new president after the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf. As required by the constitution, Muhammad Mian Soomro automatically became acting president on 18 August 2008, upon the resignation of Musharraf. The constitution required that a new president be elected by Parliament within 30 days; Soomro was considered loyal to Musharraf, and it was considered certain that he would be replaced in that election.

Masood Sharif Khan Khattak was a Pakistani civilian intelligence officer and the first Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (I.B). He served as the Vice-President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) under the leadership of Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. He also led a famous intelligence operation named Midnight Jackals, which thwarted a military coup attempt of the elected PPP government in 1990. He was imprisoned in 1996 by the government of Farooq Leghari where he was charged with launching widespread wiretapping against government officials.

Ayesha Gulalai Wazir is a Pakistani politician who was a former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2013 to May 2018.

Muhammad Ayaz Soomro was a Pakistani politician and lawyer, who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, from June 2013 to March 2018. Previously he had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2008 to 2013. During his second tenure as member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, he served in the cabinet of Sindh as provincial minister in various positions.

Sharjeel Inam Memon is a Pakistani politician who was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from June 2008 to August 2023. He is presently the chief of the Memon community of Sindh.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan is a Pakistani politician who is currently serving as Governor of Punjab, in office since 10 May 2024.
