The 2002 Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election was conducted on 22 January 2002 to elect members to all 99 wards of the municipal corporation. These were the first elections to the corporation in 16 years. Direct elections were held for mayor along with wards. The Telugu Desam Party emerged as victor in the mayoral election with its candidate T. Krishna Reddy defeating runner-up Mir Zulfiqar Ali of AIMIM by 16,000 votes, whereas AIMIM became the single largest party in the corporation. [2]
A total of 1,158,913 votes were polled out of which 1,104,076 were valid and 54,837 were invalid. There were 57 candidates competing for mayor. [3]

The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen is an Indian political party based primarily in the old city of Hyderabad. It is also a significant political party in the Indian States of Telangana and Maharashtra. It is the second largest party in the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Telangana Legislative Council. Its aim is to promote the social, economical, and educational development and effective representation of Indian Muslims.

Municipal Corporation of the City of Hubballi-Dharward or Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is the Municipal Corporation responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad, located in North Western part of Karnataka state in India. The organization is known, in short, as HDMC. This civic administrative body administers an area of 213 km2. HDMC consists of 82 elected members from four Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Hubballi-Dharwad. Presently the Council is under suspended animation pending election of new members. There has been a huge demand by people of Dharwad to create a separate civic body and get itself detached by HDMC. Claims are that most of the funds are allocated to Hubballi solely.

Imtiyaz Jaleel Syed, also known as Syed Imtiyaz Jaleel, is an Indian politician and member of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. In 2019 General Elections, Jaleel was elected as Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Aurangabad Lok Sabha Constituency. He was elected as member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Aurangabad Central constituency in 2014. He is also the state president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in Maharashtra as well as a member of the Standing Committee of the Urban Development (UD).
The 2020 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election was conducted on 1 December 2020 to elect members to all 150 wards of the municipal corporation. The BJP made significant inroads into the GHMC, much at the loss of the TRS. After the results were declared, the TRS formed the government with outside support from the AIMIM.
The 2015 Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike election was held on 22 April 2015 in all 198 Wards of Bangalore (Bengaluru).

2022 Tamil Nadu urban local body elections, to the Local civic bodies in Tamil Nadu were held in urban areas in the month of February 2022. The Greater Chennai Corporation, alongside 20 other municipal corporations of Tamil Nadu, went to polling on 19 February 2022 to elect councillors to represents the wards in the respective cities; the elected councillors will choose a mayor from amongst themselves.
Municipal elections were held in Uttar Pradesh in 2 phases on 4 and 11 May 2023 to elect members of 760 municipalities - 17 Nagar Nigams, 199 Nagar Palika Parishad and 544 Nagar Panchayats.
The 2016 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election was conducted on 2 February 2016 to elect members to all 150 wards of the municipal corporation. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi won a landslide victory of 99 wards, followed by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen which received 44 wards. The Indian National Congress, which was the single-largest party in the previous GHMC elections held in 2010, was decimated, winning only 2 wards.

The 2009 Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election was conducted on 23 November 2009 to elect members to all 150 wards of the municipal corporation. These were the first elections since to the GHMC since its creation in 2007. About 43% of the 57 lakh voters cast their vote in the polls. The Indian National Congress and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen formed the government in a post-poll agreement. Banda Karthika Reddy, corporator from Tarnaka became the mayor from the Congress Party and Toli Chowki corporator Jaffer Hussain became deputy mayor from AIMIM.
The 1986 Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election was conducted in March 1986 to elect members to all 99 wards of the municipal corporation. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen emerged as the single largest party and formed the government with outside support from the Indian National Congress.
