The 2021 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 25th event by the International Handball Federation, was held in Spain from 1 to 19 December 2021. On 18 October 2018, at a congress in Doha, Qatar, the IHF announced that the World Championship would be expanded from 24 teams to 32 teams from 2021 onwards.

The 2022 European Men's Handball Championship qualification was a handball competition organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF) to determine 20 of the 24 men's national teams competing in the 2022 European Men's Handball Championship final tournament. They joined the other four teams already qualified: Hungary and Slovakia, as final tournament co-hosts, and Spain and Croatia, who finished in the top two positions in the previous championship. Those four played in the EHF Euro Cup.

The 2019 EHF European Wheelchair Handball Nations' Tournament was the 4th edition and was hosted for the first time in Croatia from 14 to 15 December 2019. This was the last European Wheelchair Handball Nations' Tournament because next year will be held an official European championship. Croatia defeated Portugal to the first title.

The 2022 African Men's Handball Championship was the 25th edition of the African Men's Handball Championship, held from 11 to 18 July 2022 in Egypt. It acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship in Poland and Sweden. Originally it was scheduled to be held in Morocco from 13 to 23 January 2022.

The 2022 Arab Handball Championship of Champions is the 37th edition of the Arab Handball Championship of Champions which is for the first time a qualifying tournament for the 2022 IHF Men's Super Globe. It was held in Hammamet, Tunisia from 17 to 27 September 2022.

The women's qualification for the Olympic handball tournament occurred between November 2022 and April 2024, assigning quota places to the twelve squads for the Games: the hosts, the world champion, four continental champions, and six teams from the IHF World Olympic qualifying tournaments, respectively.
