The Copa Merconorte 2001 was the fourth and final edition of association football tournament Copa Merconorte held in 2001. Millonarios of Colombia defeated Emelec of Ecuador in the final. It was the first edition to include teams invited from the United States, the Kansas City Wizards and NY/NJ MetroStars. Several fixtures for the MetroStars were cancelled following the September 11 attacks.
Primera División de México(Mexican First Division)Clausura 2007 is a Mexican football tournament - one of two short tournaments that take up the entire year - to determine the champion(s) of Mexican football. It began on Friday, January 19, 2007, and ran until April 29, when the regular season ended. UAG and UANL inaugurated the season with a match in which UAG won 2-1. Reigning champions Guadalajara were eliminated in semifinals by archrivals América and thus could not retain their title. Querétaro, who finished last in the percentage table, were relegated to Primera División A at the end of the season. On May 27, Pachuca defeated América 3-2 and became champions for the fifth time.

It began on Saturday, August 14, 2004, and ran until November 20, when the regular season ended. Dorados de Sinaloa was promoted to the México Primera División thus, San Luis, Irapuato and Querétaro were all relegated to the Primera División A, making it 18 teams in the Primera División as opposed to 20. On December 11, UNAM defeated Monterrey and became champions for the fifth time.

The 2009 SuperLiga was the third edition of the SuperLiga. The top four overall Major League Soccer teams from the 2008 season not already qualified for the CONCACAF Champions League earned qualification, as well as four clubs from the Mexican Primera División. All games of the tournament were broadcast live on Fox Sports World in Canada, Telefutura in the United States, and Televisa and TV Azteca in Mexico and an internet stream on the SuperLiga website. UANL won their first title after beating Chicago Fire 4–3 on penalties in the final.
The 2009 InterLiga was the 6th edition of the tournament that determined the last two Mexican spots in the 2009 Copa Libertadores.

The 2012–13 Santos Laguna season was the 66th professional season of Mexico's top-flight football league. The season is split into two tournaments—the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura—each with identical formats and each contested by the same eighteen teams. Santos Laguna began their season on July 21, 2012 against San Luis, Santos Laguna played most their homes games on Saturdays at 7:00pm local time. Santos Laguna did not qualify to the final phase in the Apertura tournament and was eliminated in the semi-finals of the final phase by Cruz Azul in the Clausura tournament. Santos Laguna lost the 2012–13 CONCACAF Champions League final to Monterrey 4–2 on aggregate.
