The 2004 Vancouver Women's Open was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts that was part of the Tier V category of the 2004 WTA Tour. It was the third edition of the tournament and took place in Vancouver, Canada from 9 August until 15 August 2004.

Nicole Vaidišová won the singles edition, whilst the American team of Bethanie Mattek and Abigail Spears emerged victorious in the doubles category. [1]

Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic won the women's doubles tennis title at the 2018 Australian Open, defeating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 6–4, 6–3. It was the first Grand Slam title for Babos, who became the first Hungarian player to win a Grand Slam event since Andrea Temesvári in the 1986 French Open and the second Grand Slam title for Mladenovic.

The 2004 Tashkent Open was a women's tennis tournament played on hard courts at the Tashkent Tennis Center in Tashkent, Uzbekistan that was part of the Tier IV category of the 2004 WTA Tour. It was the sixth edition of the tournament and was held from 11 October through 17 October 2004. Unseeded Nicole Vaidišová won the singles title and earned $22,000 first-prize money.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Šafářová were the defending champions, but chose not to compete together this year. Mattek-Sands played alongside Latisha Chan, but lost in the second round to Irina Bara and Mihaela Buzărnescu. Šafářová teamed up with Svetlana Kuznetsova, but lost in the second round to Sorana Cîrstea and Sara Sorribes Tormo.

This was the first WTA edition of the tournament; the previous editions were ITF events.
