2005 is the debut extended play released by English band South Arcade. It features their five 2024 singles, as well as the eponymous title track. It was released on 13 December 2024, through BKM Artists and label LAB Records. [1]

Background and release

The band released the EP at the end of 2024, wanting to have a body of their work up to that point which "captures the universe (they) are trying to create with South Arcade" whilst hinting at their shift in sound with a new track. [2] In an interview with Kerrang!, the band describe titular track "2005" as a progress marker for finding their sound, guitarist Harry Winks stated that the riffs & glitch effects will allow listeners to "get South Arcade when they hear this song". [2]

Singles

Five of the album's singles had previously been released as singles. "Nepo Baby" was the first single on the album to be released on 12 January 2024. [3] "Riptide" followed on 5 April 2024. [4] The band released "Stone Cold Summer" on 25 June 2024, with the previous two singles featuring as B-sides. [5] "How 2 Get Away With Murder" was released 8 August 2024, with a Scott Pilgrim-inspired animated music video following in September. [6] [7] The final single featuring on the album "Moth Kids" was released on 25 October 2024. [8]
