The United States Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament held annually at Flushing Meadows, starting on the last Monday in August and lasting for two weeks. The event was won by Victoria Azarenka of Belarus who beat Alexa Glatch of the United States, 6–3, 6–4 in the final. [1]

Both finalists were attempting to become the second woman to complete the career Golden Slam in singles. Serena Williams defeated Victoria Azarenka in the final, 6–2, 2–6, 7–5 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2012 US Open. Azarenka served for the championship and led 5–3 in the third set. It was the first time since 1995 that the final went to three sets. With the victory, Williams became only the third woman in history to win Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the US Open in the same season after Steffi Graf and her sister Venus Williams. Williams lost only one set during the tournament, to Azarenka in the final.

Catherine "Caty" McNally is an American tennis player. She is best known for her doubles partnership with Coco Gauff, which is nicknamed "McCoco" by fans and media. She has won five doubles titles on the WTA Tour, three of them with Gauff, and the pair reached the final of the 2021 US Open. She also has won six doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. On 8 November 2021, she achieved her highest doubles ranking of world No. 16. In singles, McNally holds two titles on the ITF Circuit and reached the third round of the 2020 US Open. On September 9, 2019, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 105.
