The Minutemen, led by first year head coach Travis Ford, played their home games at William D. Mullins Memorial Center and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 13-15, 8-8 in A-10 play [2] to finish in a four-way tie for seventh place.

The UMass Minutemen are the athletic teams that represent the University of Massachusetts Amherst; strictly speaking, the Minutemen nickname applies to men's teams and athletes only — women's teams and athletes are known as Minutewomen. The Minutemen and Minutewomen compete in NCAA Division I sports competition primarily as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. UMass is one of only 16 universities in the nation that plays Division I FBS football and Division I men's ice hockey. The nickname is also applied to club teams that do not participate within the NCAA structure.

The 1990 Atlantic 10 men's basketball tournament was held as the conclusion to the 1989-90 Atlantic 10 Conference collegiate men's basketball season.

The UMass Minutemen basketball team represents the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts, in NCAA Division I men's college basketball. They play their home games in the William D. Mullins Memorial Center. The Minutemen currently compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Beginning in the 2025–26 season, the team will play as a member of the Mid-American Conference.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Derek Kellogg</span> American college basketball coach (born 1973)

Derek William Kellogg is an American college basketball coach who currently serves as an assistant coach for Creighton. Kellogg previously served as head coach of the Massachusetts Minutemen, his alma mater, being named to the position on April 23, 2008, replacing Travis Ford, who left to take the head coaching job at Oklahoma State University. He was removed from the position on March 9, 2017. After being let go by the Minutemen, he was named head coach of the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, which represented the school's Brooklyn campus. He was named the first head coach of the current LIU team upon its formation in July 2019 when LIU merged the Brooklyn athletic program with that of its Post campus, creating a new program that now competes as the LIU Sharks, and served in that role until he was fired and replaced by Rod Strickland on June 30, 2022. After his firing from LIU, Kellogg returned to his alma mater UMass as an assistant coach for one season before leaving for Creighton in 2023.

The 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 6, 2005, progressed through the regular season and conference tournaments and concluded with the 2006 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament championship game on April 3, 2006, at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Florida Gators won their first NCAA national championship with a 73–56 victory over the UCLA Bruins. This was the last Final Four site at the RCA Dome. The Final Four will return to the city of Indianapolis, but will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The 2005–06 Temple Owls men's basketball team represented Temple University in the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by head coach John Chaney and played their home games at the Liacouras Center. The Owls are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 17–15, 8–8 in A-10 play, and reached the 2006 National Invitation Tournament. Chaney retired at the conclusion of the season.

The Minutemen, led by eighth year head coach Derek Kellogg, played their home games at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 14–18, 6–12 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for tenth place. They defeated Rhode Island in the second round of the A-10 tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to VCU.

They finished the season 13–20, 5–13 in A-10 play to finish in 13th place. They beat La Salle in the first round of the A-10 tournament before losing in the second round to George Mason.

The 2005–06 Dayton Flyers men's basketball team represented the University of Dayton during the 2005–06 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Flyers, led by third year head coach Brian Gregory, played their home games at the University of Dayton Arena and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 14–17, 6–10 in A-10 play, their first losing season since 1998-99 and currently the last time the program finished with a losing record. The Flyers started the season 8-3, including a win at Cincinnati, the program's first win on their rivals home court since 1984, before losing 7 games in a row. The Flyers lost to Saint Joseph's in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament. Dayton was not selected to play in a postseason tournament, the 2nd season in a row that the Flyers did not play in a postseason tournament.

The Minutemen were led by second-year head coach Matt McCall and played their home games at the William D. Mullins Memorial Center in Amherst, Massachusetts as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 11-21, 4-14 in A-10 Play to tie for 12th place. They lost in the first round of the A-10 tournament to George Washington.

The 1991–92 UMass Minutemen basketball team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst during the 1991–92 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Minutemen, led by fourth year head coach John Calipari, played their home games at Curry Hicks Cage and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 30–5, 13–3 in A-10 play to finish in first place. The Minutemen won the A-10 Conference tournament by beating West Virginia in the finals. They were awarded a #3 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Minutemen advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, losing to #2 seed Kentucky in the East Regional semifinal.

They finished the season 14–17, 8–10 in A-10 play to finish in eighth place. Their season ended with the A-10 tournament and all other postseason tournaments were canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
