The 2007 WNBA season was the 11th season for the Houston Comets. The team started the season 0-10, finishing 13-11 in the remainder part of the season, and missing the playoffs for the first time in four years. It was also their last year playing at the Toyota Center.

Dispersal Draft

With the folding of the Charlotte Sting, the league held a dispersal draft prior to the 2007 WNBA draft. The order of teams picking players was based on their 2006 records. The Comets would be selecting 8th.

He was named head coach of the Lady Tigers on April 11, 2007, replacing Pokey Chatman. In 2001, Chancellor was elected to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. She played in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 1997 to 2009 for three different teams, was part of WNBA championship teams in 2001 and 2002, was a three-time WNBA All-Star and announced her retirement prior to the 2010 WNBA season.

Steven Key returned as coach - marking the first time in franchise history that the Sky did not have to hire a new coach after 1 year. The Sky received the 3rd Overall pick in the 2009 WNBA draft and used it on Maryland guard Kristi Toliver.

The 2009 WNBA season was the 13th season for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Mercury won the WNBA Finals for the second time in franchise history. On June 6, the Mercury and LifeLock entered a multi-year marketing partnership to launch the first-ever branded jersey in WNBA or NBA history. A press conference was held at the NBA Store in New York City with Phoenix Mercury President and COO Jay Parry and LifeLock CEO Todd Davis to make the announcement. The partnership ran through 2011, and the LifeLock name was on the front of Phoenix Mercury’s player jerseys and on warm-up suits. The Mercury and LifeLock ware the first to finalize such an agreement following the WNBA’s decision this off-season to make this opportunity available for its teams and sponsors. As part of the partnership, LifeLock offered a one-year complimentary membership to season ticket holders of all WNBA teams.
