NFL Europe League was a professional American football league that functioned as the developmental minor league of the National Football League (NFL). Originally founded in 1989 as the World League of American Football, the league was envisioned as a transatlantic league encompassing teams from both North America and Europe. Initially, the WLAF consisted of seven teams in North America and three in Europe. It began play in 1991 and lasted for two seasons before suspending operations; while the league had been "wildly popular" in Europe, it failed to achieve success in North America. After a two-year hiatus, it returned as a six-team European league, with teams based in England, Germany, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Spain. NFL Europa was dissolved in 2007 due to its continued unprofitability and the NFL's decision to shift its focus towards hosting regular-season games in Europe; at the time of its closure, the league consisted of five German teams and one team based in the Netherlands.
The Frankfurt Galaxy were a professional American football team that originally played in the World League of American Football and later in the resurrected NFL Europe. The team was based in Frankfurt, Germany and played in the Commerzbank-Arena, formerly called Waldstadion. The Galaxy was the only team in the league to have remained in operation and in the same city throughout the league's existence.
The Hamburg Sea Devils were an American football team that played in NFL Europe from 2005 to 2007. They played their home games at Hamburg's Volksparkstadion.
Jack Bicknell is a retired American football coach, most recently known for his long involvement in NFL Europa and its predecessor, the World League of American Football (WLAF). He served as the head football coach at the University of Maine from 1976 to 1980 and at Boston College from 1981 to 1988, compiling a career college football record of 77–90–2. In 1984, Bicknell coached his Boston College Eagles team to a 10–2 mark including a victory in the Cotton Bowl Classic. His quarterback that season, Doug Flutie, was awarded the Heisman Trophy.
Michael Glenn Sinclair is an American former professional football player and coach. He played as a defensive end for 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1991 NFL draft by the Seahawks. Sinclair was a three-time Pro Bowler in 1996, 1997 and 1998. He led the NFL in sacks in 1998 with 16.5, which is also the Seahawks single-season franchise record.

It was played at Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday, June 23, 2007. The defending World Bowl champion Frankfurt Galaxy (7–3) hosted the Hamburg Sea Devils (7–3) in their own home stadium.
Vince Martino is an American football coach. Most recently, he served as offensive line coach for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Previously, Martino spent fifteen seasons in NFL Europe, including a stint as head coach of the Hamburg Sea Devils.

Michael Anthony Jones is an American former professional football player and coach who is currently the wide receivers coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League (UFL). He played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for seven season with five different teams: the Minnesota Vikings (1983–1985), New Orleans Saints (1986–1987), Kansas City Chiefs (1988), New England Patriots (1989), and New Orleans Saints (1989). Jones played college football at Tennessee State University and returned to his alma mater to serve as offensive coordinator from 2010 to 2014.

Juan Alberto Wong Borunda is a Mexican gridiron football coach and former wide receiver who is the current head coach of the Borregos Salvajes Laguna juvenile (under-18) team. He played college football with the Borregos Salvajes Laguna before signing with the Dallas Desperados of the Arena Football League in 2004. Wong played in NFL Europe for two seasons, appearing for the Rhein Fire, the Frankfurt Galaxy, and the Hamburg Sea Devils, before participating in New York Jets training camp in 2007.
