The nominees for the 2007 Ovation Awards were announced on September 24, 2007. [1] The awards were presented for excellence in stage productions in the Los Angeles area from September 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007 based upon evaluations from members of the Los Angeles theater community. [2] [3] [4]

The winners were announced on November 12, 2007 in a ceremony hosted by Neil Patrick Harris at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, California. [5] [6]

Board of Governors Awards

The Los Angeles Stage Alliance presented three non-competitive awards for meritorious service to theater in Los Angeles. The Board of Governors Award for Career Achievement was given to Annette Bening . The James A. Doolittle Leadership in Theatre Award was given to the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles. And The Actors Fund was honored with the Community Outreach Award. [7]

Rogue Machine Theatre (RMT) is a Los Angeles based theatre company dedicated to the production of new plays and plays new to Los Angeles. They currently run a seven- to eight-month season at The Electric Lodge in Venice, having moved there after several years at the MET Theatre in Hollywood. The founding Artistic Director is John Perrin Flynn. Since its foundation in 2008, RMT has won multiple awards, including an Ovation Award for excellence in theatre, LA Weekly Theater Awards and Back Stage Garland Awards. In 2008, Terry Morgan at Variety (magazine) described RMT as "one of the most ambitious and accomplished theatre companies in LA".

Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT) is a non-profit theatre company founded in June 2007 by Wren T. Brown and the late Israel Hicks. ERT, whose award-winning theatre is its cornerstone, is the only African American professional theatre company in Los Angeles.
