2007 Wallis and Futuna Territorial Assembly election

Territorial Assembly elections were held in Wallis and Futuna on 1 April 2007. [1] [2] Of the twenty-six lists contesting the election, twenty won one seat each in an election that has been described as "having elected members along mainly clan lines". [3] Three new members were elected, and turnout was 71 per cent. [4]

The new president of the Territorial Assembly should have been chosen on 6 April 2007, but this was delayed until 11 April 2007 due to bad weather. [5] On that date, Pesamino Taputai was elected with 12 votes in favour. [6] [7]

Territorial Assembly elections were held in Wallis and Futuna on 15 March 1987 to elect the twenty members of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. The Rally for the Republic won only 7 seats, but formed a coalition with the Local People's Union (UPL).

Territorial Assembly elections were held in Wallis and Futuna in March 1992. 32 lists competed for the twenty seats in the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. The Rally for the Republic won 9 seats, Socialists 6, and independents 5. Thirteen of the MPs were newcomers, and for the first time the Assembly included two women.

Victor Brial is a Wallisian politician. He represented Wallis and Futuna in the French National Assembly from 1997 to 2007 and was president of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna twice, first from 1997 to 1999, and again from 2007 to 2010.

Ermenegilde Simete is a Wallisian politician and former member of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna. He served as President of the Territorial Assembly from November 2005 to April 2007.
