The 2008 Akron Zips football team represented the University of Akron in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Akron competed as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and played in the East Division.
2007 starter Reggie Corner was selected 114th overall in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL draft. He is the 15th player from Akron to be selected in the draft, and he is the fifth-highest historically. [1] Four other players signed with professional teams in the National Football League. These players are:
Six different Akron players made their ways to Preseason All-MAC Teams. Five players were selected each for the teams published by MAC Report Online and Athlon. [3] On the list published by MAC Report Online, Almondo Sewell was named First-Team Defense, and Bryan Williams as well as Andre Jones were named First-Team Specialists. Chris Kemme and Ryan Bain were named Second-Team Offense and Defense, respectively. [4]

The 2009 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University in the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Broncos played their home games at Bronco Stadium, most famous for its blue artificial turf surface, often referred to as the "smurf-turf". They completed the regular season undefeated (13–0), their second consecutive unbeaten regular season and fourth in the last six years, and won the WAC title for the seventh time in the last eight years. The Broncos capped their season with a showdown against fellow unbeaten TCU in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl, which marked the Broncos' return to the site of the game that put the program on the national sports map, the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. With their 17–10 win, the Broncos avenged a loss to the Horned Frogs in the previous season's Poinsettia Bowl, and became only the second team in Division I FBS history to finish a season 14–0, after Ohio State in 2002. The Broncos finished ranked #4 in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches poll for their highest ranking in school history to finish a season.

Following the 38–10 loss to Central Michigan, Woodruff, who had compiled a 9–34 record in 3 3⁄4 seasons, was fired on November 3. Running backs coach Al Lavan was named the interim coach while the school conducted a national search for the new permanent coach, and under his leadership the team won two of their final three games. After the end of the season, Northwestern running backs coach Jeff Genyk was hired as the new EMU head coach.

The 2013 Mid-American Football Championship Game was played on December 6, 2013, between the winners of the East division, the Bowling Green Falcons and the winners of the West division, the Northern Illinois Huskies. The Championship game determined the 2013 football champion of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The winner was to be the Mid-American Conference representative for the 2014 GoDaddy.com Bowl on January 5, 2014, in Mobile, Alabama. Going into the game, Northern Illinois was hoping for an undefeated season and another chance at a BCS game. Bowling Green ended that dream with a 47–27 win.
The 2014 MAC Championship Game was played on Friday, December 5, 2014, and featured the East Division Champion Bowling Green Falcons and the West Division Champion Northern Illinois Huskies.
