IF Elfsborg had their best points average season, in spite of not repeating its 2006 title. Finishing just one point adrift of Kalmar FF, Elfsborg had cemented its place as one of the top Swedish sides, being further boosted by Anders Svensson turning down a lucrative offer from Shaktar Donetsk during the course of the season.

Idrottsföreningen Elfsborg, more commonly known as IF Elfsborg or simply Elfsborg, is a professional football club based in Borås, Sweden, and is affiliated to the Västergötlands Fotbollförbund. They play in the Allsvenskan and have spent most of their history in the top tier of Swedish football. Their homeground is Borås Arena, where they have played since 17 April 2005.
The Borås Arena is a football stadium in Borås, Sweden. It is the home ground of IF Elfsborg and Norrby IF and was opened in 2005. Borås Arena has an artificial turf pitch, GreenFields MX by GreenFields, and has a capacity of 16,200. Both clubs presently using the stadium previously had Ryavallen as their home ground. Until recently it was the only stadium in Allsvenskan built in the last 40 years. The arena is located in Knalleland and is very close to the newly built athletics hall Ryahallen.
Emir Bajrami is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a winger. Starting off his professional career with IF Elfsborg in 2006, he went on to represent FC Twente, AS Monaco, and Panathinaikos before retiring at Elfsborg in 2018. A full international between 2010 and 2012, he won 18 caps for the Sweden national team and was included in the squad for UEFA Euro 2012.
In 2006 IF Elfsborg, the Swedish football club located in Borås, won their first national title since 1961, thanks to a dramatic finish to the season, where Elfsborg hit top form at the end of the year, sealing the title thanks to Joakim Sjöhage's goal against Djurgården. When Djurgården's claim for a penalty was waved off in stoppage time, Elfsborg overhauled AIK by a single point.
Helsingborgs IF had a successful season with the return of Henrik Larsson from Barcelona putting the club into international spotlight. Following a dire start to the season, coach Peter Swärdh was sacked and replaced by Stuart Baxter, the Englishman's first Swedish job for five years. A strong end to the season saw Helsingborg briefly go into title contention, but that was not to be. Instead, Helsingborg beat Gefle 2-0 in the cup final, qualifying for the UEFA Cup as an effect.
Helsingborgs IF had a resurgence season on the domestic scene, finishing in the top four once again. With Henrik Larsson having his best season following his return, the side was able to compensate for the loss of Razak Omotoyossi to Saudi Arabia. The 4th place finish meant Helsingborg qualified for Europe once more.
Helsingborgs IF had a disappointing season, losing to Sarajevo in the UEFA Europa League and only just finished in the top half, causing the resignation of coach Bosse Nilsson. The club's marquee player Henrik Larsson chose to retire from professional football aged 38, taking over Landskrona as manager.
Helsingborgs IF had its best season in a decade, being only two points off arch rivals and champions Malmö FF. With senior talisman Henrik Larsson retiring and Conny Karlsson being an unexpected coaching appointment to a midfield side, inspired signings such as Alexander Gerndt, Mattias Lindström, Erik Edman and Ardian Gashi lifted the team so far that they actually led the championship just a week before the end of the season. In the end, Malmö won the required matches, while Helsingborg choked and drew with Kalmar, a double-whammy that secured Malmö's title.
IF Elfsborg did not repeat its 2006 league title, but at least managed to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Cup, following the victory against Dinamo Bucharest in the play-off round, into which they had been relegated from the Champions League, where they had lost to Valencia in the final play-off round.
IF Elfsborg had another decent season, finishing in third of Allsvenskan, and having a decent run in the UEFA Europa League, knocking Braga out, before losing to Lazio prior to the group stage. Having been tipped for domestic glory, heavy defeats to IFK Göteborg and Malmö FF within a couple of weeks meant the team got to far behind to mount a serious challenge.
IF Elfsborg had another season where they stayed in the top four for the fifth consecutive season. Being tipped for title glory, Elfsborg was nowhere near such a feat, but thanks to Denni Avdić and his sensational season, scoring 19 league goals a European qualification was granted once more. IFK Göteborg had a largely disappointing season, finishing in the bottom half of Allsvenskan, also letting go of highly rated Norwegian coach Arne Erlandsen, only for his successor Reine Almqvist to endure an even worse run of results, which saw him being let go after the season, too.
IFK Göteborg had a near-miss season, losing a decisive match against AIK, where a win would have clinched the title. In spite of Thomas Olsson giving Blåvitt the lead, goals from Antônio Flávio and Daniel Tjernström saw the grip slip out of IFK's hands. Adding to the misery, AIK also won the cup final clash between the sides.

The 2015 Allsvenskan, part of the 2015 Swedish football season was the 91st season of Allsvenskan since its establishment in 1924. The 2015 fixtures were released on 21 January 2015. The season started on 4 April 2015, when BK Häcken visited newly promoted Hammarby IF at Tele2 Arena and ended on 31 October 2015. Malmö FF were the defending champions from the 2014 season.
The 2016 season was AIK's 125th in existence, their 88th season in Allsvenskan and their 11th consecutive season in the league. The team competed in Allsvenskan, Svenska Cupen and UEFA Europa League.
