The 2008 World Enduro Championship was the 19th season in the FIM World Enduro Championship. The season consisted of eight events and 16 races.
Last season's Enduro 2 champion, Honda's Mika Ahola, took his second world championship title now racing in the Enduro 1 class. In the Enduro 2 class, Yamaha's Johnny Aubert won his first world championship, becoming the first racer to defeat Juha Salminen since the 1998 season. With nine wins, Salminen broke compatriot Kari Tiainen's record (77) for most wins in the series. In Enduro 3, KTM's Samuli Aro became the sixth enduro rider to win five world championship titles.

Richard Carmichael is an American former professional motocross and stock car racing driver. He competed in the AMA Motocross Championships from 1997 to 2007 and in NASCAR from 2008 to 2011. Carmichael is notable for winning the AMA 450cc motocross national championship seven times and, the AMA Supercross Championship 450cc class five times. His unrivaled successes in the sport of motocross have given him the nickname "The GOAT"; standing for Greatest of All Time.

Joël Smets is a Belgian former professional motocross racer and current Racing Sports Director for KTM motorcycles. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1989 to 2005. Smets is notable for being a five-time motocross world champion, six-time Belgian national champion and was Belgian Sportsman of the year in 2000. His 57 career Grand Prix victories ranks him fourth overall among motocross world championship competitors.
