The 2005–06 Hazfi Cup was the 19th staging of Iran's football knockout competition organised annually by the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran.
The 2009–10 Persian Gulf Cup was the 27th season of Iran's Football League and ninth as Iran Pro League since its establishment in 2001. Esteghlal were the defending champions. The season featured 15 teams from the 2008–09 Persian Gulf Cup and three new teams promoted from the 2008–09 Azadegan League: Steel Azin and Tractor Sazi both as champions and Shahin Bushehr. The league started on 6 August 2009 and ended on 19 May 2010. Sepahan won the Pro League title for the second time in their history. Sepahan's Emad Mohammed emerged as the top goalscorer, with 19 goals.
The 2011–12 season was the Persepolis's 11th season in the Pro League, and their 29th consecutive season in the top division of Iranian Football. They competed in the Champions League. They also competed in the Hazfi Cup but were eliminated by Esteghlal in the quarter-finals. Persepolis is captained by Ali Karimi.
The 2012–13 season are the Saba Football Club's 9th season in the Iran Pro League, and their 9th consecutive season in the top division of Iranian football. They are also competing in the Hazfi Cup and AFC Champions League, and 11th year in existence as a football club.
The 2012–13 Hazfi Cup was the 26th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Esteghlal was the defending champion, but was eliminated by Sepahan in the semi-final. The competition started on 13 December 2012 and ended on 5 May 2013. Sepahan won the title after defeating Persepolis in final.
The 2013–14 season was the Persepolis's 13th season in the Pro League, and their 31st consecutive season in the top division of Iranian Football. They were also competing in the Hazfi Cup but were eliminated by Foolad in Quarter-finals. Persepolis was captained by Mohammad Nouri.

The 2015–16 Hazfi Cup was the 29th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Zob Ahan Isfahan was the defending champion. The competition started on 27 August 2015 and the final was played on 29 May 2016.
Zob Ahan won the tournament for the second time in a row after defeating Esteghlal in the final.
The 2016–17 Hazfi Cup was the 30th season of the Iranian football knockout competition. Zob Ahan Isfahan, the defending champions, were eliminated by Tractor Sazi in the semi-final in extra time. The competition started on 12 September 2016, and the final was played on 11 May 2017. Naft Tehran defeated Tractor Sazi in the final, earning their first title.
