The Empress's Cup All-Japan Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, or The Empress's Cup, is a Japanese Women's football competition. As an elimination tournament, it can be considered the female counterpart to the men's Emperor's Cup. The name "Empress's Cup" has been used since the 2012 season as the Empress's Cup trophy was founded in that year.

L.League Japanese association football league

The L.League is the top flight of women's association football in Japan. The league consists of three divisions: Divisions 1 and 2 have the nickname Nadeshiko League and Division 3 the Challenge League . Since 2008 it has been sponsored by Plenus (株式会社プレナス), a fastfood company based in Fukuoka, and are thus billed as Plenus Nadeshiko League and Plenus Challenge League.

The 88th Emperor's Cup began on September 13, 2008 and ended on January 1, 2009 with the final at National Stadium in Tokyo. As the champion, Gamba Osaka participated in AFC Champions League 2009.

The 89th Emperor's Cup began on September 19, 2009 and ended on January 1, 2010 with the final at National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Gamba Osaka won the title for two years in a row. Since Gamba already confirmed 2010 AFC Champions League berth, the last spot of ACL for J.League club is awarded to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, which finished as 4th place of 2009 J.League.

Coventry United Ladies Football Club is an English women's football club affiliated with Coventry United F.C.. The 2016 Nadeshiko League season was won by NTV Beleza, who have won the title 14 times.

The 2017 L.League season was the 29th edition since its establishment. NTV Beleza were the defending champions, having won the Division 1 title in each of the past two seasons. The season began in March 2017 and ended in October 2017. NTV Beleza won the season, making it their 15th Division 1 title.
