The 2011 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship for Women is the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the Under-17 World Championship for Women 2012. The tournament was supposed to be held in Urumqi, China from October 5 to October 12, but was moved to another venue due to unavoidable and unforeseen circumstances. The games were moved to Jinan, China from December 4 to December 11. [1] Japan, notched their maiden title after thrashing Korea in the Championship match.

The Australian women's national basketball team is nicknamed the Opals, after the brightly coloured gemstone common to the country. From 1994 onwards, the Opals have been consistently competitive and successful having won nine medals at official FIBA international tournaments, highlighted by a gold medal winning performance at the 2006 World Championship in Brazil. At the now-defunct regional Oceania Championship for Women, the Opals won 15 titles. Effective in 2017, FIBA combined its Oceanian and Asian zones for official senior competitions; following this change, the Opals compete in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup.

The 2011 FIBA Asia Championship for Men is the intercontinental championship for basketball organized by FIBA Asia that doubles as a qualifying tournament for the men's basketball tournament of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, United Kingdom. The tournament was held in 15–25 September 2011 at Wuhan, Hubei, China. Lebanon was the original host for the event. Team China won the tournament, defeating Jordan 70–69 in the final. It was the first time in the history of FIBA Asia Championship that the title was won by just one single point.

Akanksha Singh is an Indian basketball player and former captain of the India Women's National Basketball Team. She has played for the national team since 2004. She and her sisters, Divya, Prashanti, and Pratima are known as the "fantastic four" of the Indian women's basketballers, and are also known as the "Singh Sisters".

The 2009 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship for Women is the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2010 Under-17 World Championship for Women at Rodez and Toulouse, France. The tournament was held on Pune, India from 30 November to 6 December. China defeated Japan to notch their maiden title in the Championship.

The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup is the top basketball tournament in Asia for 3x3 national teams and was first held in 2013 as the FIBA Asia 3x3 Championship in Doha, Qatar. In the championship there are 2 events, men's and women's. Each team has 4 players. The match is played on a half court and every rule applies as well as a 12-second shot clock and clearance needed on a new possession.

The 2018 FIBA U18 Women's Asian Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2019 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup. The tournament, which was also the 24th edition of the biennial competition, was held in Bangalore, India from 28 October to 3 November. The top four teams qualified and will represent FIBA Asia in the 2019 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Thailand.
