The 2012 Delaware State Hornets baseball team represented Delaware State University in the sport of baseball during the 2012 college baseball season. The Hornets competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Northern Division of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). They played their home games on the university's Dover, Delaware campus. The team was coached by J. P. Blandin, who was in his twelfth season at Delaware State. [2] The Hornets were looking to build upon their 26-29 record from the 2011 season.

Contents

The Hornets finished the regular season at 35-15 with a conference record of 22-2. The Hornets would lose in the second round to Maryland Eastern Shore, but they would then go onto the finals of the MEAC Tournament to face Bethune–Cookman. The Hornets beat the Wildcats in the first game 3-2, but were stopped 8-3 in the second game, thus ending their season.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference baseball tournament was the conference baseball championship of the NCAA Division I Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. In its final edition in 2022, all four MEAC baseball teams participated in the double elimination tournament at Marty L. Miller Field in Norfolk, Virginia. The winner of the tournament received an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The automatic bid was granted beginning in 1994.

Amber Jackson is an African-American, former collegiate All-American and retired professional softball player and former college softball head coach. She played for three years with the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats, from 2003 to 2005, before transferring to the Maryland Terrapins for the 2007 season. She is the season and career leader in numerous offense categories for both institutions, and is the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference career leader in hits, triples and runs in three seasons.

Mervyl Samuel Melendez Sr. is a Puerto Rican baseball coach and former third base player and relief pitcher.

Jean-Paul Blandin is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head coach of the Delaware State Hornets.

The 2002 Bethune–Cookman Wildcats football team was an American football team that represented Bethune-Cookman University as a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) during the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football season. In its fifth season under head coach Alvin Wyatt, the team compiled an 11–2 record and won the MEAC championship. The team played its home games at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The 2004–05 Delaware State Hornets men's basketball team represented Delaware State University during the 2004–05 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hornets, led by head coach Greg Jackson, played their home games at Memorial Hall and were members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 19–14, 14–4 in MEAC play to finish in first place. They defeated Bethune-Cookman, South Carolina State, and Hampton to win the MEAC tournament and secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament – the first, and only, appearance in school history. Playing as No. 16 seed in the South region, the Hornets were beaten by No. 1 seed Duke in the opening round.
