Venus Ebony Starr Williams is an American professional tennis player. A former world No. 1 in both singles and doubles, Williams has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open. She is widely regarded as one of the all-time greats of the sport.
Daniela Hantuchová is a Slovak tennis commentator and retired player. She turned professional in 1999 and had her breakthrough year in 2002, when she won her first WTA Tour title at the Indian Wells Masters, defeating Martina Hingis in the final and becoming the lowest-ranked player to ever win the tournament. She also reached the quarterfinals of that year's Wimbledon Championships and US Open, ending the year in the top ten. She was part of the Slovak team that won the 2002 Fed Cup and the 2005 Hopman Cup.
David Ferrer Ern is a Spanish former professional tennis player. A three-time Davis Cup champion with Spain, Ferrer has won tournaments at all levels on the ATP Tour except at a major, and currently has the eighth highest career prize money earnings of all time among male tennis players. Ferrer also holds the distinction of winning the most matches on the ATP Tour without having won a major, passing Brian Gottfried who held this record for 32 years.
Samantha Jane Stosur is an Australian former professional tennis player. She is a former world No. 1 in doubles, a ranking which she first achieved on 6 February 2006 and held for 61 consecutive weeks. Also a former top ten singles player, Stosur reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 on 21 February 2011 and spent a total of 165 weeks ranked inside the top ten, between March 2010 and June 2013. Stosur was also the top-ranked Australian singles player for 452 consecutive weeks, from October 2008 to June 2017, and was ranked inside the top 25 for a period of nine straight years. She won a combined total of 40 career titles ——including 8 major titles, and amassed more than $20 million in prize money.
Victoria Fyodarauna Azarenka is a Belarusian professional tennis player. Azarenka is a former world No. 1 in singles, having claimed the top ranking for the first time on 30 January 2012. She was the year-end No. 1 in 2012 and has held the top ranking for a combined total of 51 weeks.
Dominika Cibulková is a Slovak former professional tennis player. She is the 2016 WTA Finals champion, becoming the fourth player to win the tournament on her debut. She won eight WTA Tour singles titles and two on the ITF Circuit.
Three-time defending champion Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 7–6(7–4), 7–6(7–2), 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2007 US Open. It was his fourth consecutive US Open title and 12th major title overall. With the win, Federer marked his third year in which he won three of the four majors. Also, he reached a record-equaling 14th consecutive major quarterfinal, after Roy Emerson and Ivan Lendl. It was Djokovic's maiden major final, and the first of an eventual record 33 major final appearances.
Novak Djokovic defeated the defending champion Rafael Nadal in a rematch of the previous year's final, 6–2, 6–4, 6–7(3–7), 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2011 US Open. It was his first US Open title, his third major of the year, and his fourth major title overall. Djokovic saved match points en route to the title, saving two against Roger Federer in the semifinals. This was the second consecutive US Open where Djokovic saved two match points against Federer to reach the final, and the fifth consecutive US Open where Djokovic and Federer played each other. With the loss, Federer failed to win a major in a calendar year for the first time since 2002.
Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–4, 7–5, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. He became the first Briton to win the title since Fred Perry in 1936, ending a 76-year drought, as well as the first British winner in singles since Virginia Wade won the women's event in 1977. He was also the first Scot to win the title since Harold Mahony in 1896.
Marion Bartoli defeated Sabine Lisicki in the final, 6–1, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2013 Wimbledon Championships. She won the title without losing a set, or facing a tiebreak in any set. Bartoli became the first French major champion since Amélie Mauresmo at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. By winning her maiden major title in her 47th appearance, she broke the previous women's record of 45, set by Jana Novotná in 1998, for most appearances in majors before winning a title. This was also Bartoli's final major appearance, as she retired from professional tennis the following month.
Two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray in the final, 6–7(2–7), 7–6(7–3), 6–3, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2013 Australian Open. It was his fourth Australian Open title and sixth major title overall. With the win, Djokovic became the first man in the Open Era to win the Australian Open three consecutive times.
Defending champion Victoria Azarenka defeated Li Na in the final, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2013 Australian Open.
Serena Williams defeated the defending champion Maria Sharapova in the final, 6–4, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2013 French Open. It was her second French Open singles title, her 16th major singles title overall, and she completed the double career Grand Slam in singles with the win. She also became the oldest woman to win the French Open and set a record for the longest gap between successive French Open titles. With the win, Williams extended her winning streak to 31 matches, going undefeated for the 2013 clay court season. She lost only one set during the tournament, to Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarterfinals.
Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–2, 3–6, 6–4, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2013 US Open. It was his second US Open title and 13th major title overall, moving him to third place on the all time men's singles major titles list, past Roy Emerson. This marked the third time in four years that Nadal and Djokovic contested the final.
Defending champion Serena Williams defeated Victoria Azarenka in a rematch of the previous year's final, 7–5, 6–7(6–8), 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2013 US Open. It was her fifth US Open singles title and her 17th major singles title overall. For the second consecutive year, Williams lost only one set during the tournament, again to Azarenka in the final.
Stan Wawrinka defeated Rafael Nadal in the final, 6–3, 6–2, 3–6, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2014 Australian Open. It was his first major title. With the win, Wawrinka became the first man outside the Big Four to win a major since Juan Martín del Potro won the 2009 US Open. He also became the first man to defeat the top two seeds at a major since Sergi Bruguera at the 1993 French Open, defeating top-seed Nadal and second-seed Novak Djokovic. Nadal was attempting to complete the double career Grand Slam; he would achieve the feat eight years later.
Andy Murray defeated David Ferrer in the final, 2–6, 6–4, 7–6(7–1) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2013 Miami Open. It was his second Miami Open title.
Rafael Nadal defeated Stanislas Wawrinka in the final, 6–2, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2013 Madrid Open.
Karen Abgarovich Khachanov is a Russian professional tennis player. Khachanov has won four ATP Tour singles titles, including a Masters 1000 title at the 2018 Paris Masters, has claimed an Olympic silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and has reached two major semifinals at the 2022 US Open and 2023 Australian Open. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 8 on 15 July 2019.
Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2015 US Open. It was his second US Open title and tenth major title overall. By reaching the final, Djokovic became the third man to reach all four major finals in the same year in the Open Era, after Rod Laver and Federer. The final was also a rematch of the final at the Cincinnati Masters three weeks earlier, which Federer won in straight sets.
