The 2013 ARFU Women's Sevens Series is the 14th edition of Asia's continental sevens tournament for women. It was played over two legs hosted in Pattaya, Thailand and in Pune, India. [1] [2] Japan were declared 2013 Asian Champions.

In qualification for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, thirteen Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) nations compete for one full place, and one repechage place. No Asian teams qualified for the quarter-finals in 2003, so none qualify automatically in 2007. Only Japan has been to the World Cup, participating in all five RWCs to date, with only one win in 1991 (England) against Zimbabwe, 52–8. Asia 1 will go into Group B with Australia, Wales, Fiji and Canada.

Asia Rugby, formerly the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU), is the governing body of rugby union in Asia under the authority of World Rugby. Founded in 1968 by eight charter nations, the Union today has 36 member unions in countries across Asia, stretching from Kazakhstan to Guam.

Rugby union in China is a growing sport; however, it is still not overly popular. China became affiliated to the International Rugby Board in 1997 and as of 1 July 2019, its women's XV side was ranked 24th and its men's XV side 80th in the world. Neither the women's team nor the men's team has yet qualified for a Women's Rugby World Cup or a men's Rugby World Cup. However, China has hopes of one day hosting the men's event, and World Rugby has indicated it supports taking the event there.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sri Lanka Sevens</span>

The Sri Lanka Sevens is an annual international rugby sevens tournament held in Sri Lanka. Sponsored by telecommunications provider Dialog, the event has been part of the Asian Sevens Series since 2015. It was founded in 1999 as the Singer Sri Lankan Airlines Rugby 7s.

The Hong Kong national rugby sevens team is a regular participant in the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The team's greatest achievements include winning the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and winning the Asian Sevens Series in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2022.

The Hong Kong Women's Sevens held the first women's international rugby sevens tournament in 1997, and has since become an annual event. The 2020 edition marked the start of a new era for the Hong Kong Women's Sevens. For the first time, the tournament will be an official event in the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. The 2020 and 2021 tournaments were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Series is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in Asia. Initially contested as a single tournament, the championship was expanded into a two-tournament series in 2014. The competition is sanctioned and sponsored by Asia Rugby, which is the rugby union governing body for the region.

The 2003–04 ARFU Asian Rugby Series was the first edition of a tournament created by Asian Rugby Football Union for national teams. The formula was in two step. The 12 teams were divided in three pool of three, then, according to the results of the first round, in four pool in order to define the ranking.

The Philippine women's national rugby sevens team, known as the Volcanoes, represents the Philippines in rugby sevens. They played their first international sevens in 2010 at the Asian Championships. They won the 2019 Asia Rugby Women's 7s Trophy Series in Indonesia.

The 2004 Singer Sri Lankan Airlines Rugby 7s was the sixth year of the Singer Sri Lankan Airlines Rugby 7s tournament. It also doubled as an Asian qualifier for the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Japan defeated Chinese Taipei 38 - 14 in the final of the Cup.

The 2015 ARFU Men's Sevens Championships is an Olympic qualification tournament for rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics which was held in Hong Kong on 7–8 November 2015. It was originally planned to use the 2015 Asian Sevens Series for the qualification but as the series clashed with the 2015 Rugby World Cup hosted in England, it was decided to use one qualifying tournament for Asia.

The 2015 Asian Sevens Series was the seventh Asian Sevens Series held by Asia Rugby. The winner and runner-up of the competition gaining entry into the World Series qualifying tournament at the 2016 Hong Kong Sevens.

The 2016 Asia Rugby Sevens Series is the eighth edition of Asia's continental sevens tournament. It was played over three legs hosted in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Sri Lanka. The top two teams besides Japan qualifying for the 2017 Hong Kong Sevens for a chance to win a place as a World Rugby Sevens Series core team.

The 2019 Asia Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the twentieth edition of Asia's continental sevens tournament. The series was played over three legs in South Korea, China, and Sri Lanka.

The 2011 ARFU Women's Sevens Championship was the twelfth edition of the tournament and was held from 1 to 2 October 2011 at Pune, India. China faced Kazakhstan in the Cup final and were successful in earning their fourth title win.

The 2012 ARFU Women's Sevens Championship was the tournaments thirteenth edition and took place on 6 to 7 October 2012, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, India. The tournament was a qualifier for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia, there were three available spots at stake. Fiji qualified for the World Cup as champions, along with China and Japan who finished second and third respectively.
