2013 Albanian local elections

Albanian partial local elections of 2013 were held on September 1, 2013, and November 3, 2013. Following the Parliamentary Elections in June, and the new Albanian Government composition announced on July 31, 2013, [1] there were reelections in four municipalities, three of them rural.
The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania.

Turnout: 30,92% (over 45% of which were women) [6]
Results:

  1. Sotiraq Filo, representing the coalition "Alliance for the European Albania" [7] (Albanian : Aleanca për Shqipërinë Europiane), consisting of Socialist Party of Albania and Socialist Movement for Integration, 15953 votes [8]
  2. Sotiraq Stratobërdha, representing the coalition "Alliance for the Citizenry of Korça" [7] (Albanian : Aleanca për Qytetarinë Korçare), consisting of Democratic Party of Albania and Republican Party of Albania, 5283 votes [8]

Turnout: 51,14% (around 44% of which were women) [9]

  1. Mynyr Shehu, representing the coalition "Alliance for Karbunare" (Albanian : Aleanca për Karbunarën), consisting of Democratic Party of Albania and Republican Party of Albania, [7] [10] 864 votes [11]

The first president of the party was Edmond Temelko, who was the mayor of the Pustec Municipality from 2007 until 2019. It first succeeded in electing an ethnic Macedonian to parliament in 2019, Vasil Sterjovski. Sterjovski himself was elected as the president of the party in September 2019. The party does not support the claims that a Bulgarian minority exists in Albania.

Municipal elections were held in Kosovo on November 17, 2007, at the same time as elections to the Assembly of Kosovo, with a second round for the mayoral elections held on 2007-12-08. The date was originally set for September 1, 2007 by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Joachim Rücker.

The Albanian local elections of 2011 took place on 8 May 2011 in Albania. Electors were asked to elect their municipality's mayor, municipal council members, municipal unit mayor, and municipal unit members. The elections were administrated by the Central Election Commission of Albania. Only 9 of the 384 winning candidates were women.

The Albanian local elections in 1992 was the first local election held in Albania. The elections were held on 26 July 1992 and the general winner was the coalition Socialist Party of Albania with 49.87% of the vote. The Democratic Party of Albania however, won in capital of Tirana.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2013 Albanian parliamentary election</span>

Parliamentary elections were held in Albania on 23 June 2013. The result was a victory for the Alliance for a European Albania led by the Socialist Party and its leader, Edi Rama. Incumbent Prime Minister Sali Berisha of the Democratic Party-led Alliance for Employment, Prosperity and Integration conceded defeat on 26 June, widely viewed as a sign of growing democratic maturity in Albania.

Local elections were held in Kosovo on 3 November 2013, with a second round on 1 December. These were the first elections which the Serbs of Northern Kosovo participated in since the Republic of Kosovo declared independence in 2008; polls were monitored by the OSCE. There were violent reactions in Serb-majority areas of northern Kosovo.

Local elections were held in Albania on 21 June 2015. Voters elected mayors, municipal council members, municipal unit mayors and municipal unit members. The Central Election Commission of Albania was responsible for administrating the elections. This provided that the community type of komuna is abolished and at the same time the total number of communities were reduced from 373 to 61 Bashkia. Those entitled to vote elected the executive and legislative representatives of their communities, the 61 mayors (and on the other hand the total of 1595 municipal councils.

Erion Veliaj is an Albanian, politician, who is currently serving as the Mayor of Tirana. Stemming from a civil society activism organization as the leader of MJAFT!, Veliaj joined the ranks of the Socialist Party of Albania in 2011, when he was appointed Secretary for Youth and Immigration.

Belind Këlliçi is an Albanian conservative politician. He was elected Member of Parliament for Tirana County in April 2021 general elections. He is the official candidate of the Democratic Party to run for Mayor of Tirana in the upcoming local elections, after winning in the Democratic Party Primaries.

The Alliance for Equality and European Justice is a political party of Albania representing the Aromanian minority of the country. The ABDE was founded on 28 October 2011 in Durrës by a group of enthusiastic Aromanians led by Valentino Mustaka, the president of the party, and Koçi Janko. Afterwards, the members of the party began a signature collection campaign to fit the requirements of Albanian law that ask for parties to have 3,000 signatures to be legally registered. The ABDE obtained 3,899 signatures in favor of this and submitted a legal registration request that was accepted on 17 February 2012.

Xhafer Tahiri is a politician in Kosovo. He was a member of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo from 2013 to 2014 and was the mayor of Vushtrri from 2017 to 2021. Tahiri is a member of the Democratic League of Kosovo.

Arsim Rexhepi is a politician in Kosovo. He served in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo from 2008 to 2010, initially as a member of the New Kosovo Alliance and later with the Democratic League of Kosovo. He is now a member of Vetëvendosje.

Muharrem Shabani is a politician in Kosovo. He was a member of the Assembly of the Socialist Autonomous Province of Kosovo in 1989-90 and served as deputy speaker. In 1990, he was prominent among a group of Albanian delegates that supported Kosovo becoming a republic within Yugoslavia, and he played a key role in establishing a parallel assembly when the official parliament was shut down in July 1990. Shabani later served as the mayor of Vushtrri after the 1998-99 Kosovo War.
