The 2013 Maserati Challenger was a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts. It was the first edition of the tournament which was part of the 2013 ATP Challenger Tour. It took taking place in Meerbusch, Germany, between 10 and 18 August 2013.

Tennis is a racket sport that can be played individually against a single opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to maneuver the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. The player who is unable to return the ball will not gain a point, while the opposite player will.

A clay court is one of many different types of tennis court. Clay courts are made of crushed shale, stone, brick, or other unbound mineral aggregates. The French Open uses clay courts, making it unique among the Grand Slam tournaments. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness.

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour is the secondary professional tennis circuit organized by the ATP. The 2013 ATP Challenger Tour calendar comprised 149 tournaments, with prize money ranging from $35,000 up to $220,000.

Rameez Junaid is an Australian professional tennis player of Pakistani descent.

Frank Moser is a German retired professional tennis player. He was a doubles specialist. As a career highlight he beat with partner Ivo Karlović the world's top-ranked doubles team, the Bryan brothers, at the 2011 US Open – Men's Doubles. Moser won his only ATP World Tour title in San Jose in 2013.

Dustin Brown is a Jamaican-German professional tennis player. He rose to fame after beating Rafael Nadal in the 2014 Halle Open and Wimbledon 2015, and is known for his technique, speed and entertaining playing style, often entertaining the crowd with trick shots during matches.
