The 2013 Volta ao Algarve was the 39th edition of the Volta ao Algarve cycling stage race. It was rated as a 2.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour, and was held from 14 to 17 February 2013, in Portugal.
The race was won by Germany's Tony Martin, [1] of Omega Pharma–Quick-Step courtesy of his dominant victory in the final ITT stage winning the time trial by over a minute. Martin's winning margin over his teammate and runner-up Michal Kwiatkowski was 58 seconds, and Dutch rider Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil–DCM) completed the podium, a further second behind Kwiatkowski and 59 seconds down on Martin. In the race's other classifications, Italian Giacomo Nizzolo (RadioShack–Leopard) won the points classification, Portugal's Hugo Sabido (LA Alumínios–Antarte) won the sprints classification, Italy's Manuele Boaro of Saxo–Tinkoff won the green jersey for the mountains classification, and RadioShack–Leopard finished at the head of the teams classification.

Tony Hans-Joachim Martin is a German former professional road bicycle racer. Martin was known as a time trial specialist, and is a four-time world champion in the discipline – having won the title in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016 – which is joint-most with Fabian Cancellara. He also won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, finishing runner-up to Bradley Wiggins in the event. Martin was also part of four world championship-winning team time trial squads, with Omega Pharma–Quick-Step/Etixx–Quick-Step, in 2012, 2013 and 2016, and with Germany in the mixed relay time-trial in 2021.
Daniel John Martin is a British-Irish former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2008 and 2021 for the Cannondale–Garmin, Quick-Step Floors, UAE Team Emirates and Israel Start-Up Nation teams.
Rui Alberto Faria da Costa, ComIH is a Portuguese professional road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI WorldTeam EF Education–EasyPost. He is best known for winning the 2013 UCI Road World Championships in Tuscany, Italy, three stages of the Tour de France in 2011 and 2013, one stage in the Vuelta a España in 2023, and the 2012, 2013 and 2014 editions of the Tour de Suisse, becoming the first cyclist to win the event for three consecutive years.
Tony Gallopin is a French former professional road racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2023. During his career, he won a stage at the 2014 Tour de France and the 2018 Vuelta a España, and also won the 2013 Clásica de San Sebastián.
Tiago José Pinto Machado is a Portuguese former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2005 and 2022 for seven different teams. He took three victories during his career – the 2009 Portuguese National Time Trial Championships, a stage at the 2010 Circuit de la Sarthe, and the general classification at the 2014 Tour of Slovenia.
Tejay van Garderen is an American former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2008 and 2021 for the Rabobank Continental Team, HTC–Highroad, BMC Racing Team and EF Education–Nippo. Following his retirement as a cyclist, van Garderen became a directeur sportif for UCI WorldTeam EF Education–EasyPost.
Richard Julian Porte is an Australian former professional road bicycle racer who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2022. His successes include wins at 8 World Tour stage races: Paris–Nice in 2013 and 2015, the Volta a Catalunya in 2015, the Tour de Romandie in 2017, the Tour Down Under in 2017 and 2020, the Tour de Suisse in 2018 and the Critérium du Dauphiné in 2021. In Grand Tours, he won the young rider classification at the 2010 Giro d'Italia, his first year at UCI ProTour level, and finished on the podium of the 2020 Tour de France, but was also frequently hit by illnesses and injuries.
