The Senegalese Football Federation is the governing body of football in Senegal. It is based in the capital of Senegal, Dakar and was founded in 1960. The FSF aided in the development of football in Senegal, specifically for its professional and amateur leagues, youth and women's football and academies. Currently the FSF oversees the professional leagues, run by the Ligue Sénégalaise de Football Professionnel (LSFP) and fully organises the national teams, youth, women's and amateur football and all football administration.
Association Sportive Artistique et Culturelle Ndiambour is a Senegalese football club based in Louga, which is part of the Senegal National League 2 Poule A. Their home stadium is Stade ASEC Ndiambour, also known as Alboury Ndiaye.
Union Culturelle et Sportive des Travailleurs Port Autonome is a Senegalese football club based in Dakar. Their home stadium is Stade Port Autonome. The club is named after the city and country's main shipping port the Autonomous Port of Dakar, it is also the ninth-busiest port in Africa.
Association Sportive et Culturelle Saloum is a Senegalese football club based in Kaolack.
Senegal Premier League is the top division of the Senegal Football Association, it was founded in 1966. The league also hosts a domestic cup, the Coupe de la Ligue. Football clubs from the Senegal Premier League also compete for the Senegal FA Cup.
Diambars FC de Saly is a football academy in Saly, Senegal, which plays in the Senegalese National League 1. It's also a part of Diambars, a non-profit organisation certified by UNESCO.
Association Sportive de Pikine or simply AS Pikine is a Senegalese football club based in Pikine. They play at Stade Alassane Djigo, which has a capacity of 5,000.
Olympique de Ngor is a football club from Senegal based in the neighborhood of Ngor in the northwest of Dakar. They are one of the top-flight football clubs. Stade de Ngor is their stadium used for football matches. It has a capacity of 10,000. It is the westernmost football club on the African mainland along with Almadies of Ngor, Cape Verde's Tarrafal FC de Monte Trigo is the westernmost football (soccer) club in the whole of Africa since 2014, though it is a lesser and least prominent club.
The 1999 Division 1 season was the 34th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began on January 10 and finished on 19 September 1999. ASC Jeanne d'Arc won the seventh title and participated in the 2000 CAF Champions League the following year. ASEC Ndiambour participated in the 2000 CAF Cup of Cups and Compagnie sucrière sénégalaise in the 2000 CAF Winners' Cup.
The 2008 Division 1 season was the 43rd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began in late in the mid year on 26 June and finished late on 23 November. It was the first year they played at a professional level, also it was the final season it was titled "Division", the following year would become a "League". AS Douanes won their fifth title, the next club to win three consecutive titles. AS Douanes along with Casa Sport would compete in the 2009 CAF Champions League the following season. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup, along with ASC Yakaar after defeating ASC HLM in a Confederation Cup qualification barrage.
The 2009 Ligue 1 season was the 44th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the second professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began a little earlier on 2 May and finished on 31 October. It was the first season labelled as a "League". ASC Linguère won their first and only title, the next club to win three consecutive titles, and a year later would compete in the 2010 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup. Since that season, only one club each would qualify into the continental championship or cup, the winner of each. The West African Cup was again revived and brought two clubs, a second place club from Ligue 1 and a second placed Senegalese Cup club.
The 2010 Division 1 season was the 45th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the third professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 20 February and finished on 7 August. It was the second season labelled as a "League". ASC Diaraf won their eleventh and recent title, and a year later would compete in the 2011 CAF Champions League. Touré Kunda who won the 2010 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2011 CAF Confederation Cup. ASC Niarry Tally and ASC HLM participated in the West African Cup for the last time.
The 2011 Ligue 1 season was the 46th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the fourth professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 18 December 2010 and finished on 9 September 2011. It was the third season labelled as a "League". US Ouakam won their first and recent title, and a year later would compete in the 2012 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf, second place and the winner of the 2012 Senegalese Cup Casa Sport participated in the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, it was the last time bringing a second place club, only the cup winner would participate in the following season.

The season began slightly later on 24 December 2011 and finished on 2 September 2012. It was the fourth season labelled as a "League". Casa Sport won their first and only title, and a year later would compete in the 2013 CAF Champions League. ASC HLM the winner of the 2012 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.
The 2015–16 Ligue 1 is the 51st season of top-tier football in Senegal and the eighth professional season. The season began on 8 November 2015. Gorée, an island based club though plays at Dakar's stadium clinched their fourth league title and first since 1984 in the league's final week with a 3-0 road win over last-place Olympique Ngor. In the cup competition, NGB ASC Niarry Tally, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup will participate for the first time in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup the following season. Gorée participated in Ligue 2 and finished second in the previous season, one of the few clubs who was in the top of second-tier competition last season to win a title of a first tier competition in West Africa.

The season began on 13 January and finished earlier on 19 August and it was a season that competed through a single year. It was the fifth season labelled as a "League". Diambars FC won their only title, and a year later would compete in the 2014 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf the winner of the 2013 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

AS Douanes won their sixth and recent title and qualified into the 2016 CAF Champions League. Génération Foot, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup qualified for the first time in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.
