Peter Lembo is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the associate head coach and special teams coordinator at the University of South Carolina. In 2022, Lembo oversaw the highest rated special teams unit in college football with the Gamecocks. Prior to that, he was the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator at the University of Memphis, a position he assumed in January 2019. Prior to Memphis, he was the associate head coach and special teams coordinator at Rice University. Before joining the coaching staff at Rice University, he was the head coach at Lehigh University from 2001 to 2005, at Elon University from 2006 to 2010, and at Ball State University from 2011 to 2015. He was also the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator at the University of Maryland for two seasons. Lembo enjoyed success in each of his three stops as a head coach and accumulated a 112–65 career record over a 15-year period. His 79–36 record in ten seasons at the FCS level makes him one of the winningest coaches in the history of that classification.

The Elon Phoenix is the official mascot of Elon University, located in Elon, North Carolina. It is the name that each of the sports teams at the university are referred to. The university is a member of the Coastal Athletic Association and that league's technically separate football arm of CAA Football. Elon competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision, fielding 17 varsity teams in 11 sports.

The Phoenix play their home games at the 13,100 seat Rhodes Stadium.

Curt Cignetti is an American football coach and former quarterback who is the current head football coach of the Indiana Hoosiers. He was previously the head coach of the James Madison Dukes, Elon Phoenix, and the IUP Crimson Hawks.

The 2013 Elon Phoenix football team represented Elon University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by third-year head coach Jason Swepson and played their home games at Rhodes Stadium. They were a member of the Southern Conference. This was their final season as a member of the SoCon as they joined the Colonial Athletic Association in 2014. They finished the season 2–10, 1–7 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for eighth place.

The 2014 North Carolina A&T Aggies football team represented North Carolina A&T State University as a member of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) during the 2014 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by fourth-year head coach Rod Broadway, the Aggies compiled an overall record of 9–3 with a mark of 6–2 in conference play, placing in a five-way tie for the MEAC title with Bethune–Cookman, Morgan State, North Carolina Central, and South Carolina State. Morgan State received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Football Championship. None of the other co-champions earned an at-large bid. North Carolina A&T played home games at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Phoenix, led by sixth year head coach Matt Matheny, played their home games at Alumni Gym and were first year members of the Colonial Athletic Association. They finished the season 15–18, 6–12 in CAA play to finish in eighth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament where they lost to William & Mary.

They finished the season 19–13, 11–7 in CAA play finish in a tie for third place. They advanced to the semifinals of the CAA women's tournament where they lost to James Madison. They were invited to the Women's National Invitational Tournament where they lost to Georgia Tech in the first round.

They finished the season 8–4, 6–2 in CAA play to finish in third place. They received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs where they were lost to Furman in the first round.

Olisaemeka Udoh is an American football offensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Elon Phoenix and was drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round, 193rd overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The 1980 Elon Fightin' Christians football team was an American football team that represented Elon University of Elon, North Carolina, as a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) during the 1980 NAIA Division I football season. In their fourth year under head coach Jerry Tolley, the Christians compiled a 13–1 record and tied for the SAC championship.

Davis Cheek is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL). He signed with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft, but was released prior to the season before resigning during the season. He played college football at Elon.
