The Florida Gators are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Florida, located in Gainesville. The University of Florida, its athletic program, its alumni and its sports fans are often collectively referred to as the "Gator Nation." The Gators compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and are consistently ranked among the top college sports programs in the United States. The University of Florida currently fields teams in nine men's sports and twelve women's sports.
The Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium is the home field of the Florida Gators softball team of the University of Florida. The stadium is located at the corner of Hull Road and Museum Road, on the university's Gainesville, Florida campus.
The 2008 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 15 through June 4, 2008. 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2008 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Timothy Ian Walton is an American college softball coach and a former college and professional baseball player. Walton is currently the head coach of the Florida Gators softball team of the University of Florida.
Stacey Lauren Nelson is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired right-handed softball pitcher, originally from Los Alamitos, California. She played for the Florida Gators softball team from 2006-2009, leading the University of Florida to its first Women's College World Series berth in 2008 and a national runner-up appearance in the 2009 Women's College World Series. Nelson was also the 13th pick in the 2009 National Pro Fastpitch's draft by the defunct Washington Glory. Nelson pitched for the United States women's national softball team in 2009 and 2010 before attending law school at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She is the Florida career record holder wins, ERA, shutouts and innings pitched. She also ranks all-time in several career categories in the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA Division I.
The University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame includes over 300 former Florida Gators athletes who represented the University of Florida in one or more intercollegiate sports and were recognized as "Gator Greats" for their athletic excellence during their college sports careers. The 2014 Alabama Crimson Tide softball team is an American softball team, representing the University of Alabama for the 2014 NCAA softball season. The Crimson Tide played their home games at Rhoads Stadium. After losing in the 2013 NCAA Super Regionals, the 2014 team looked to make the postseason for the 16th straight year, and the Women's College World Series for ninth time, where they would lose against the Florida Gators in the championship game. This season represented the 18th season of softball in the school's history.
The 2013 Southeastern Conference softball tournament was held on May 8 through the 11th at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Ky. The Florida Gators beat the Missouri Tigers 10–4 in their first win since 2009. Freshman center fielder Kirsti Merritt—the MVP of Florida Gators—had two homers, seven RBI, four runs, a walk and two stolen bases.

Lauren Elizabeth Anna Haeger is a professional softball pitcher and first baseman with the Dallas Charge of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). After being named a member of the 2011 MaxPreps Softball All-American Team and earning a gold medal at the III Pan American (18-under) Games in 2010, Haegar played softball at the University of Florida.
Kelly Katlyn Barnhill is an American, former collegiate All-American, professional softball pitcher. She played college softball for the Florida Gators from 2016 to 2019 and was named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Honda Sports Award and espnW Player of the Year in 2017. She is the career no hitters (7), strikeouts, strikeout ratio (10.5) and WHIP leader for the Gators. She also ranks in career strikeout ratio for both the Southeastern Conference and the NCAA Division I.
Hannah Rogers is an American softball player. She attended Lake Wales High School in Lake Wales, Florida. She later attended the University of Florida, where she was an All-American pitcher for the Florida Gators softball team. Rogers led Florida to the 2014 Women's College World Series finals, where they defeated Alabama, 2–0 to claim Florida's first national championship in softball. Rogers was named the 2014 Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player. She later went on to play professional softball with the USSSA Pride of National Pro Fastpitch.
Kelsey Stewart is an American softball player. She won two softball National Championships with Florida Gators softball and has been named a Second Team and two-time First Team All-SEC player, including being named 2015 SEC Player of the Year. She was also chosen a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American in 2014-15. She graduated as a member of the select 300 hits, 200 runs, 100 stolen bases club. She has been of the United States women's national softball team since 2014. She was a member of the national softball team that won the silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She later played in the Athletes Unlimited Softball and in 2021 was the third best individual points leader for the league.

Aubree Munro Watson is an American, former college softball player, medal-winning Olympian, professional softball catcher. She played college softball for the Florida Gators where she won two NCAA Championships, and played professionally for the USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). She is currently a member of the United States women's national softball team, and represented Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal.
Amanda Lorenz is an American professional softball player for the USSSA Pride and current volunteer assistant softball coach for the Florida Gators. She played college softball for the Florida Gators, where she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year in 2016.
