In November 2014, two separate terrorist attacks took place in Potiskum in Yobe State, Nigeria. Both incidents involved suicide bombers, killing at least 61 people and injuring scores of others. In both cases, Boko Haram has been accused of carrying out the attacks.

Attack on Shias

On 3 November 2014, a suicide bomber killed at least 15 people in an attack on Shia Muslims who were marching to mark the Day of Ashura. Around fifty people were injured in the attack, and five others were shot by security forces. [1] [2] [3]

School attack

On 10 November 2014, at least 46 people were killed and 79 wounded in a suicide bombing on Potiskum, Yobe State, Nigeria. The attack took place when students assembled in the hall of the Government Science Secondary School. The bomber entered the school wearing a school uniform. Following the attack, the state governor closed all public schools in the area. [4] [5]

Timeline of the Boko Haram insurgency is the chronology of the Boko Haram insurgency, an ongoing armed conflict between Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram and the Nigerian government. Boko Haram have carried out many attacks against the military, police and civilians since 2009, mostly in Nigeria. The low-intensity conflict is centred on Borno State. It peaked in the mid 2010s, when Boko Haram extended their insurgency into Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

On 10 November 2014 a suicide bomber dressed as student killed at least 46 and injured many people at school assembly at the Potiskum, north-eastern town of Nigeria which was carried out by Boko Haram.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">March 2015 Maiduguri suicide bombing</span>

On March 7, 2015, a suicide bomber blew himself up on a cycle rickshaw near a fish market in Maiduguri in northeast Nigeria, and killed at least 10 people. Later, it was officially reported that there were a series of five bomb blasts carried out by suicide bombers on the same day in five different areas of the city. According to multiple sources, 58 people were killed and over 143 people wounded.

In February 2015, suicide bombings occurred in the northern Nigerian cities Damaturu, Potiskum and Kano.

On 8 October 2021, an IS-KP suicide bombing occurred at the Shia Gozar-e-Sayed Abad Mosque in the Afghan city of Kunduz. Over 50 people were killed and another 100 were injured, but according to an estimate by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, more than 100 people were killed and wounded.
