The 2015 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 24th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 5 April to 12 April 2015 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. [1]

Contents

New Zealand won the tournament for the second time after defeating Australia 1–3 on penalties, after the match ended in a draw at 2–2, in the final. [2]

The India men's national field hockey team represents India in international Field hockey competitions, and is governed by Hockey India. The team was formerly under the control of Indian Hockey Federation. India was the first non-European team to be a part of the International Hockey Federation. In 1928, the team won its first Olympic gold medal and until 1960, the Indian men's team remained unbeaten in the Olympics, winning six gold medals in a row. The team had a 30–0 winning streak during this time, from their first game in 1928 until the 1960 gold medal final which they lost. India also won the World Cup in 1975. India's hockey team is the most successful team ever in the Olympics, having won a total of eight gold medals – in 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1964 and 1980. India also has the best overall performance in Olympic history with 83 victories out of the 134 matches played. They have also scored more goals in the Olympics than any other team. They are also the only team ever to win the Olympics without conceding a single goal, having done so in 1928 and 1956.

The 2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 19th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, held between 6–16 May 2010. Due to bad weather, the final between India and Korea was abandoned after 6 minutes and 14 seconds of play. After discussions and consultations between the Tournament Director Paul Richards, the Organising Committee, with the consent of Sultan Azlan Shah, decided that India and Korea would be joint champions for the 19th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was the 5th title for India and the 2nd for Korea.

The 2011 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is the 20th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 5–15 May 2011 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

The 2012 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is the 21st edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 24 May to 3 June 2012 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. New Zealand won their first ever title by defeating Argentina with 1–0 in the final, while five-time champions India took the bronze medal by defeating Great Britain scoring 3–1.

The 2013 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 22nd edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 9–17 March 2013 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Australia was the winner after defeating Malaysia in the final.

Pakistan won their successive second title after beating South Korea 1-0 with a late minute goal by Kamran Ashraf in the final becoming the first side to retain the Azlan Shah Cup since its inaugural edition. Manpreet Singh Sandhu is an Indian field hockey player and the captain of India men's national field hockey team since May 2017. He led the Indian field hockey team to the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He plays as a halfback.
