The 2018 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 27th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia from 3 to 10 March 2018. [1] [2]

Contents

The number of teams for this year's cup was the same as last year's tournament where six teams competed. Japan and New Zealand, who competed previously, did not join this edition and were replaced by Argentina and Ireland. England was Great Britain's only country that participated in this edition.

Australia clinched their tenth title in this tournament after defeating England 2–1 in the final match.

Adrian Albert D'souza is an Indian field hockey goalkeeper, who made is international debut for the men's national team in January 2004 during the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Adrian has more than 100 International Caps for his country in all competitions. He has played in all major field hockey tournaments, including the 2006 Hockey World Cup, 2006 Asian Games, 2007 Asia Cup and 2 Champions Trophies. Regarded as one of the most innovative and daring goal-keepers of recent times, Adrian brought the rushing technique to the hockey field. Adrian has competed in 3/4 major international hockey events : the Olympics, World Cup, and Asian Games with a total of 165 caps for his country.

The 2010 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 19th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, held between 6–16 May 2010. Due to bad weather, the final between India and Korea was abandoned after 6 minutes and 14 seconds of play. After discussions and consultations between the Tournament Director Paul Richards, the Organising Committee, with the consent of Sultan Azlan Shah, decided that India and Korea would be joint champions for the 19th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was the 5th title for India and the 2nd for Korea.

2011 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

The 2011 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is the 20th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 5–15 May 2011 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia.

The 2012 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is the 21st edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 24 May to 3 June 2012 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. New Zealand won their first ever title by defeating Argentina with 1–0 in the final, while five-time champions India took the bronze medal by defeating Great Britain scoring 3–1.

The 2013 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was the 22nd edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It was held from 9–17 March 2013 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Australia was the winner after defeating Malaysia in the final.

Rupinder Pal Singh is a retired professional field hockey player, who formerly represented India in the Indian Hockey Team. He played as a fullback and is known for his abilities as one of the best drag flickers in the world. He represented India in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, 2016 Olympic Games held at Rio de Janeiro, and at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, held at Gold Coast, Australia. He was part of the Indian hockey team that won a Bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
