The 2016–17 Sint Maarten Soccer Association (SMSA) Senior League was the 41st season of top division football in Sint Maarten. The season begin on 2 October 2016 and ended on 10 April 2017.
Sint Maarten is an island country in the Caribbean. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. With a population of 40,120 on an area of 37 km2 (14 sq mi), it encompasses the southern 40% of the divided island of Saint Martin, while the northern 60% of the island constitutes the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Martin, the only place that France borders the Netherlands. Sint Maarten's capital is Philipsburg.
Defending champions Flames United were the defending champions, but finished runners-up to Reggae Lions. Both teams earned a berth in the 2018 Caribbean Club Championship, should they elect to participate in the tournament.
Flames United SC is a Sint Maarten football club that currently plays in the SMSA Senior League, the highest level of football on Dutch Sint Maarten. The club's home ground is the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex in Philipsburg, the country's capital. The club also fields a futsal team. The current manager is Omar Hunter and the current team captain is Loxley Parker.
Reggae Lions are a Maartener association football club based in Philipsburg. The team plays in the SMSA Senior League, the top tier of football on the island.
The 2018 Caribbean Club Championship was the 20th edition of Caribbean Club Championship, the annual international club football competition in the Caribbean region, held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), a sub-confederation of CONCACAF.

The Sint Maarten national football team is the football team of Sint Maarten, the Dutch half of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, and is controlled by the Sint Maarten Soccer Association. Sint Maarten is not a member of FIFA, and therefore is not eligible to enter the World Cup. However, the association planned to apply for FIFA membership in 2016.
