The 2016 Barbados Premier Division (officially the Digicel Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the 70th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds won their first league title, holding off defending champions BDF by a single point. Pinelands United were winless and are joined by Empire Club in being relegated to Barbados First Division for the 2017 season.

Owen Arthur Barbadian politician

Owen Seymour Arthur, PC was a Barbadian politician who served as Prime Minister of Barbados from 6 September 1994 to 15 January 2008. He was the longest-serving Barbadian Prime Minister at the time of his death. He also served as Leader of the Opposition from 1 August 1993 to 6 September 1994 and from 23 October 2010 to 21 February 2013.

The Premier League is the top football league in Barbados. It was created in 1947 and is headed by the Barbados Football Association. Ten teams participate in this league. It is known as the Digicel Premier League for sponsorship reasons.

The 2010–11 Barbados Premier Division was the 65th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. The season began on 13 February and concluded on 3 July. The league champions were Youth Milan, who won their second title, and their first since 2006.

The 2010 Barbados Premier Division was the 64th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. The season began on 15 February and concluded on 25 June. The league champions were Notre Dame SC.

The 2014–15 Botswana Premier League will be the 50th season of the Botswana Premier League since its establishment in 1966. A total of 16 teams will contest the league, with Township Rollers as the defending champions.

The 2015 Barbados Premier Division was the 69th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. Barbados Defense Force won their final six matches to hold off Rendezvous FC for their third consecutive league title and fifth overall. With BDF having already completed their schedule, Rendezvous FC needed to make up 11 goals in goal differential with a win on the final day of the season to pull even with BDF, but managed only a 2-1 victory over Weymouth Wales. The season began on February 8 and concluded on July 23.

The 2015–16 Botswana Premier League was the 51st season of the Botswana Premier League since its establishment in 1966. Township Rollers won their 13th league title after defeating Centre Chiefs, 5-1, in the championship playoff. The playoff was announced following controversy as to who the rightful champion was following a series of point deductions and appeals. Township Rollers were docked 10 points for using ineligible player Ofentse Nato, dropping from 70 points to 60 and into second place with the decision. Following a series of appeals by both Township Rollers and Centre Chiefs, the Botswana Football Association decided to hold a championship game at the National Stadium on June 15, although the match was later postponed and played on August 11 at Molepolole Stadium in Molepolole.

Sandra Mason

Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, GCMG, DA, QC is the Governor-General of Barbados. She was a practising Attorney-at-Law who has served as a High Court judge in Saint Lucia and a Court of Appeal judge in Barbados. She was the first woman admitted to the Bar in Barbados. She served as chair of the CARICOM commission to evaluate regional integration, was the first magistrate appointed as an Ambassador from Barbados, and was the first woman to serve on the Barbados Court of Appeals. She was the first Bajan appointee to the Commonwealth Secretariat Arbitral Tribunal and served briefly as the Governor General of Barbados. She has been called one of the 10 most powerful women in Barbados. In 2017, she was appointed as the 8th Governor General of Barbados, with a term beginning on 8 January 2018. Simultaneously with her appointment, Mason was awarded the Dame Grand Cross in the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George. On assumption of the office of Governor-General, Dame Sandra Mason, under the Order of Saint Andrew, became the Chancellor and Principal Dame of Saint Andrew.

Romario Harewood is a Barbadian footballer who currently plays for Weymouth Wales FC of the Barbados Premier Division and the Barbados national team as a midfielder.

UWI Blackbirds FC

UWI Blackbirds FC, is a Barbados association football club based in Cave Hill, Saint Michael, Barbados. The team is the football division of the UWI Blackbirds athletic program. In 2016, the team won their first Premier Division title.

The 2016–17 Botswana Premier League is the 52nd season of the Botswana Premier League since its establishment in 1966. Township Rollers clinched their second straight league title and 14th overall.

The 2017 Barbados Premier League is the 71st season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds are the defending champions, coming off their first league title.

The 2016 Barbados FA Cup was the 106th edition of the top knockout tournament in Barbados. The tournament was won by Weymouth Wales who defeated Rendezvous in the championship match. It was Weymouth's fifth domestic cup title.

The 2017–18 Red Stripe Premier League is the highest competitive football league in Jamaica. It is the 44th edition of the competition. The regular season started on September 24, 2017. Arnett Gardens are the defending champions, having won their 5th title last season.
