UWI Blackbirds FC, is a Barbados association football club based in Cave Hill, Saint Michael, Barbados. The team is the football division of the UWI Blackbirds athletic program. In 2016, the team won their first Premier Division title.

Barbados Premier League Top football league in Barbados

The Premier League is the top football league in Barbados. It was created in 1947 and is headed by the Barbados Football Association. Ten teams participate in this league. It is known as the Digicel Premier League for sponsorship reasons.

The Barbados First Division is the second tier of Football in Barbados.

Barbados Defense Force won their final six matches to hold off Rendezvous FC for their third consecutive league title and fifth overall. With BDF having already completed their schedule, Rendezvous FC needed to make up 11 goals in goal differential with a win on the final day of the season to pull even with BDF, but managed only a 2-1 victory over Weymouth Wales. The season began on February 8 and concluded on July 23.

Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, GCMG, DA, QC is the Governor-General of Barbados. The 2016 Barbados Premier Division is the 70th season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds won their first league title, holding off defending champions BDF by a single point. Pinelands United were winless and are joined by Empire Club in being relegated to Barbados First Division for the 2017 season.

The 2017 Barbados Premier League is the 71st season of the highest tier of football in Barbados. UWI Blackbirds are the defending champions, coming off their first league title.

The 2016 Barbados FA Cup was the 106th edition of the top knockout tournament in Barbados. The tournament was won by Weymouth Wales who defeated Rendezvous in the championship match. It was Weymouth's fifth domestic cup title.
