Fútbol Club Motagua, formerly Club Deportivo Motagua up to 2017, is an association football club, located in Tegucigalpa, capital of Honduras.
The Honduran Supercup is a Honduran football competition held yearly as a preseason match between the reigning champions of the Liga Nacional and the Honduran Cup. The competition started unofficially in 1997, but it was discontinued after just two seasons. In 2015, it was intended to be reactivated, however the match between F.C. Motagua and Club Deportivo Olimpia was scheduled but not played. One year later, a new Supercup edition was finally reestablished after 17 years of dormancy. The Honduran football authorities however, do not consider the competition official until 2017.
The 1991–92 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 26th edition of the Honduran Liga Nacional. The format of the tournament remained the same as the previous season. C.D. Motagua won the title after defeating Real C.D. España in the finals. Both teams qualified to the 1992 CONCACAF Champions' Cup.

The 2016 Honduran Supercup was a match arranged by the Honduran Liga Nacional which took place on 8 July 2016 between C.D. Honduras Progreso, winners of the 2015–16 Liga Nacional and Club Deportivo Olimpia, winners of the 2015 Honduran Cup. This was the first Honduran Supercup since 1999 after the 2015 edition was abandoned with no disclosed reason.
