The 2016 LSU Tigers gymnastics team is to represent Louisiana State University in the sport of Artistic gymnastics during the 2016 NCAA Division I women's gymnastics season. The Tigers compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They host their home meets at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the university's campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Tigers program is led by D-D Breaux who has been the head coach of the program for 39 seasons. [2]

Previous season

The 2015 Tigers team came into the 2015 season ranked #5 in the Coaches Preseason Poll. [4] They finished the regular season with an almost undefeated run – losing to the Oklahoma Sooners during the Metroplex Challenge, in late January. [5] The Tigers placed second at the SEC Championships, [6] and first at the NCAA Ames Regional. [7] The Tigers advanced to Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas – placing fifth in their session. [8] As a result, the Tigers didn't advance to the Super Six. [9] The program had six participants in the Event Finals also. [10]

Schedule

LSU's 2016 schedule is a 10-week long regular season – consisting of five home and five away meets. As part of their away meet campaign, the Tigers will participate in the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas (against Missouri, Oklahoma, Stanford and Washington), [11] the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas, NV – a neutral site against NC State, and a quad meet at Texas Woman's against New Hampshire and Oregon State. [12] Tigers will host SEC rivals, Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn and Alabama – as well as the Oklahoma Sooners to open their 2016 campaign. The Tigers will travel to conference rivals Georgia and Florida.

The Tigers were led by seventh-year head coach Les Miles and played their home games at Tiger Stadium. They were a member of the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 13–1, 8–0 in SEC play to be Western Division champions. They represented the division in the SEC Championship Game where they defeated Eastern Division champion Georgia 42–10 be crowned SEC champions. They finished the season ranked #1 in the final BCS poll to earn a spot in the BCS National Championship Game vs #2 Alabama. The Tigers, who had defeated Alabama 9–6 in the regular season, lost to the Crimson Tide 21–0. It was the first time a team was ever shut out in a BCS game.

The 2013 LSU Tigers baseball team represents Louisiana State University in the NCAA Division I baseball season of 2013. The Tigers played their home games in the new Alex Box Stadium, which opened in 2009. On May 17, 2013, the playing field at Alex Box Stadium was designated Skip Bertman Field, in honor of the LSU coach with the most wins in the program's history. At the end of the game against Ole Miss, the program celebrated the best regular season record in its history with 48 wins.

They finished the season 17–14, 10–6 in SEC play to finish in a three way tie for fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the SEC women's tournament where they lost to LSU. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA women's tournament where they lost to South Florida in the first round.

Lloimincia D'Chelle Hall is a former American artistic gymnast, who competed in the NCAA for the LSU Lady Tigers gymnastics team. Hall attracted significant media attention due to her unique and dynamic floor routine and choreography.

The 2015–16 LSU Tigers basketball team represented Louisiana State University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team's head coach was Johnny Jones, who was in his fourth season at LSU. They played their home games at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 19–14, 11–7 in SEC play to finish in a three-way tie for third place. They defeated Tennessee in the quarterfinals of the 2016 SEC tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to Texas A&M. On March 13, the day after losing to Texas A&M by 33 points, they announced they would not participate in a postseason tournament.

They finished the season 10–21, 2–16 in SEC play to finish in a tie for 13th place. They lost in the First Round of the SEC tournament to Mississippi State.

The LSU Sports Network is the radio and television network of the Louisiana State University Tigers and Lady Tigers men's and women's sports teams. It consists of eleven television stations, two regional cable networks, and several radio stations throughout the state of Louisiana and surrounding states. Its headquarters are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and it is owned by LSU Sports Properties.

The Tigers' home meets will take place at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They will be led by head coach D-D Breaux in her forty-first season at the helm of the program. The Tigers will look to build on a fourth place finish at the 2018 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship.
