The 2016 Ladies Championship Gstaad was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 24th edition of the Ladies Championship Gstaad, and part of the International category of the 2016 WTA Tour. It took place at Roy Emerson Arena in Gstaad, Switzerland, from 11 July through 17 July 2016.
Johanna Larsson was the defending champion, but lost in the semifinals to Kateřina Siniaková.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Dominika Cibulková.
Agnieszka Radwańska was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Alison Riske.
Elina Svitolina defeated Caroline Wozniacki in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 Dubai Tennis Championships.
Elena Vesnina defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, 6–7(6–8), 7–5, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 Indian Wells Masters. It was Vesnina's first WTA 1000 singles title and the last singles title of her career. This was the second all-Russian final in tournament history, following the 2006 edition.

Caroline Wozniacki defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the final, 6–3, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2018 China Open. It was Wozniacki's 30th and last WTA Tour title, before her first retirement in January 2020.
Bianca Andreescu defeated Angelique Kerber in the final, 6–4, 3–6, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 Indian Wells Open. It was her first WTA Tour title, and she became the first wildcard champion in tournament history, as well as the youngest champion since Serena Williams in 1999. This marked the second consecutive year where a player won the tournament as her first WTA singles title.
Karolína Plíšková was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Victoria Azarenka.
Roberta Vinci was the champion the last time the tournament was held in 2013, but she has since retired from professional tennis.
