The 2017 V de V Challenge Monoplace was a multi-event motor racing championship for open wheel, formula racing cars held across Europe. The championship features drivers competing mainly in 2 litre Formula Renault single seat race cars that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. The season began at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on 17 March and will finish on 5 November at Estoril after seven triple-header rounds. [1]

Contents

Drivers compete in two classes depending on the type of car they drive. Those competing in the current Tatuus FR 2.0 2013 car, as well as the previous Barazi-Epsilon FR2.0–10 car, which are in use since 2010, are included in Class A. Old Formula Renault 2.0 machinery along with other cars such as Formula BMW and Formula Abarth encompass Class B. [2]

Standings

Points system

Points are awarded following a complex system. Drivers receive a set of points according to their overall position in each race, as well as an additional set of points according to their position within the class their car belongs to. No separated standings for classes A and B are issued. The points distribution is as follows: [11]

The total number of points scored in each round is multiplied by a coefficient, depending on the round. Only the best 19 results are counted towards the overall standings, whereas all results are valid towards the Gentlemen Drivers standings. [1]

The Spanish Grand Prix is a Formula One motor racing event currently held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The FIA WTCR Race of Portugal is a motor racing event held in Portugal as part of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) series, and formerly the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). First run in 2007, the event last took place at the Autódromo do Estoril in June 2021; previously it has been held at the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real, the Circuito da Boavista, and the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Calan Williams is an Australian racing driver who last competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident. He is the champion of the 2017 Australian Formula 3 Premier Series. Williams also raced for Jenzer Motorsport in the FIA Formula 3 Championship during 2020 and 2021.

Bent Max Calvin Viscaal is a Dutch racing driver who will compete in the 2022 European Le Mans Series for Algarve Pro Racing. He last competed in the 2021 Formula 2 Championship driving for Trident Racing, having previously raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship for MP Motorsport. He is the runner-up of the 2018 Euroformula Open Championship as well as the 2017 F4 Spanish Championship. Viscaal resides in a small Dutch town called Albergen.
