The 2018 Auburn Tigers softball team was an American softball team that represented Auburn University for the 2018 NCAA softball season. The Auburn Tigers played their home games at Jane B. Moore Field. [2] The Tigers had a new coach, after former coach Clint Myers resigned his post on August 24, 2017. [3] Mickey Dean was named as head coach on September 14, 2017, after coaching at James Madison University for 5 seasons. [4]
Auburn hopes to improve upon its 49-12 record a year ago that ended in the Super Regionals at the hands of the eventual National Champion Oklahoma Sooners. [5]
The Tigers were voted to finish sixth in the SEC in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, [6] and opened 2018 ranked 13th in the USA Today/NFCA Softball national preseason poll. [7]

Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. is an American sportscaster and former professional and college football coach. He serves as an analyst for ESPN's College GameDay, a television program covering college football. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest football coaches of all time. Saban served as head coach of the National Football League (NFL)'s Miami Dolphins and at four universities: Louisiana State University (LSU), Michigan State University, the University of Toledo and most famously the University of Alabama, where he last coached from 2007 to 2023 and led the team to 6 national championships during that period.

Sunny Golloway is the head baseball coach at NCAA Division II Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. His most recent stint as head baseball coach of an NCAA Division I institution was at Auburn. He was fired September 27, 2015. He succeeded coach John Pawlowski. Golloway was hired by Auburn University on June 14, 2013. Prior to becoming the head coach of Auburn, he was the head coach at Oklahoma.
The LSU Tigers football program, also known as the Fighting Tigers, represents Louisiana State University in college football. The Tigers compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The 2007 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University during the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Head coach Tommy Tuberville returned for his ninth season at Auburn, the third longest tenure among SEC head coaches in 2007. He was joined by returning offensive coordinator Al Borges and returning defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. Auburn played its eight-game home schedule at Jordan–Hare Stadium, the ninth largest on-campus stadium in the NCAA in 2007, seating 87,451. Conference foe Vanderbilt returned to the schedule while non-conference opponents South Florida and Tennessee Tech played the Tigers for the first time. The Tigers finished the season ranked #14 in the Coaches Poll and #15 in the AP Poll.
The 2008 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University during 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Tommy Tuberville served his tenth and final season as head coach at Auburn. He was joined by a new defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads and new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin, who attempted to implement Tuberville’s new without the proper players suited for the spread offense in a failed effort to correct the Tigers' offensive struggles in 2007. Tuberville fired Franklin six games into the season.
The 1971 NCAA University Division football season saw Coach Bob Devaney's Nebraska Cornhuskers repeat as national champions. Ranked a close second behind Notre Dame in the preseason poll, Nebraska moved up to first place the following week, remained there for the rest of 1971, and convincingly won the Orange Bowl 38–6 in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 game against Alabama.

The 2018 Southeastern Conference football season represents the 86th season of SEC football taking place during the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season began on August 30 and will end with the SEC Championship Game, between Alabama and Georgia, on December 1. The SEC is a Power Five conference under the College Football Playoff format along with the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big 12 Conference, the Big Ten Conference, and the Pac-12 Conference. For the 2018 season, the SEC has 14 teams divided into two divisions of seven each, named East and West.

Clint Myers is a retired college softball and college baseball coach, who previously served as head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils softball team and the Auburn Tigers softball team. In 12 seasons coaching softball, he won a pair of Women's College World Series championships and appeared in seven others.
The 2023 SEC softball season began play Thursday, February 9, and conference play began on Friday, March 10. Tennessee clinched the regular season conference championship on May 6. Tennessee also won the 2023 Southeastern Conference softball tournament which took place from May 9–13 at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Vanderbilt University is the only full member of the Southeastern Conference to not sponsor a softball program. Of the 13 teams in the SEC, 12 played in the NCAA tournament. Of the top 16 seeds hosting Regionals, five are from the SEC. Three of the five win their Regionals, being the only SEC teams to win Regionals. Two of the three win their Super Regionals and advance to the 2023 Women's College World Series (WCWS).
The 2024 SEC softball season began play Thursday, February 8, and conference play begins on Friday, March 8. The 2024 Southeastern Conference softball tournament takes place May 7–11 at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama. Vanderbilt University is the only full member of the Southeastern Conference to not sponsor a softball program.
