Coimbra is a city and a municipality in Portugal. The population of the municipality at the 2011 census was 143,397, in an area of 319.40 square kilometres (123.3 sq mi). The fourth-largest urban area in Portugal after Lisbon, Porto, and Braga, it is the largest city of the district of Coimbra and the Centro Region. About 460,000 people live in the Região de Coimbra, comprising 19 municipalities and extending into an area of 4,336 square kilometres (1,674 sq mi).
The Associação Académica de Coimbra – Organismo Autónomo de Futebol (AAC/OAF), also referred to as Académica de Coimbra or simply Académica, is a professional football club based in Coimbra, Portugal. The club competes in the third division of the Portuguese football league system, and hosts home games at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra. The club's name derives from the footballing division of the Associação Académica de Coimbra, the student association of the University of Coimbra.

Figueira da Foz, also known as Figueira for short, is a city and a municipality in the Coimbra District, in Portugal. Practically at the midpoint of the Iberian Peninsula's Atlantic coast, it is located at the mouth of the Mondego River, 40 km (25 mi) west of Coimbra and sheltered by hills, sharing about the same latitude with Philadelphia, Baku and Beijing. The population of the municipality in 2011 was 62,125, in an area of 379.05 km2 (146.35 sq mi). The city of Figueira da Foz proper has a population of 46,600. It is the second largest city in the district of Coimbra.
The Associação Académica de Coimbra (AAC) is the students' union of the University of Coimbra (UC). Founded in Coimbra on November 3, 1887, it is the oldest students' union in Portugal. It is also the biggest Portuguese students' union belonging to an independent institution, since it represents all the students of its university, who gain automatic membership into the AAC as students of the University of Coimbra.

The Coimbra University Stadium, or EUC, is an extensive sports complex of the University of Coimbra on Mondego's left bank, in Santa Clara parish, in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. The stadium was opened in 1963.
European University Sports Association (EUSA) is an umbrella non-governmental (NGO) non-profit organisation, working in the field of university sport in Europe.
European Universities Championships (EUC) are university sports competitions governed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). There are currently 23 sports in which the championships are organised. Participants in these events are European university teams and individuals.
The European Universities Volleyball Championships were the first championships, along with the European Universities Basketball Championships, to be included on the EUSA Sports Program.
European Universities Football Championships were first organised in 2003, they have been organised annually since.
The European Universities Rowing Championships were first organised in 2005 and were held annually until 2011. In 2012 the first European Universities Games were held, and thereafter the Games will take place in even years, with the European Universities Championships in individual sports taking place in odd years.
European Universities Judo Championships were the first organised in 1961. The 2nd edition was planned to be hosted in August 1962 in Huizingen (Belgium). In 1964 the championships were held in Delft (Holland). They were not repeated until 2011 (Sarajevo), 2013 (Coimbra) and 2015 (Paris). They are reinvented as part of European Universities Games.
European Universities Taekwondo Championships were the first organised in 2009 and are organised every two years.
The 2012 European Universities Games, were the first European Universities Games, hosted by Córdoba, Spain between July 13 and 23, 2012.
The European Universities Games (EUG) is an international multi-sport event, organized every two years for university athletes by the European University Sports Association (EUSA). The first edition was held in 2012 in Cordoba, Spain. On April 9, 2016 the EUSA General Assembly in Wrocław, Poland announced Belgrade, Serbia to host the 2020 Edition.
The 2016 European University Games, also known as 2016 European Universiade, was the third biannual European Universities Games (EUG), the largest European multisport event, with 4800 participants from 403 universities in 41 countries. The event took place in the Croatian cities of Zagreb and Rijeka between 13 and 25 July 2016, and was organised by European University Sports Association (EUSA) and Croatian Academic Sport Federation (CASF) with the cooperation of University of Zagreb, University of Rijeka, City of Rijeka, City of Zagreb and Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (Croatia).
The 2020 European University Games would have been the 5th biannual European Universities Games (EUG). It was scheduled to be held in Belgrade, Serbia from 12 July to 26 July. However, this event was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic on 27 March 2020. The new dates proposed for the competition were from 14 July to 27 July 2021. On 5 May 2021 EUSA announced the games not being held. The event was planned involve 21 different sporting disciplines in the sports programme. It would have been organised by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and University Sports Federation of Serbia with the special cooperation alongside University of Belgrade.
The Armenian Student Sports Federation (ARMSSF) is a national non-governmental organization responsible for advocating, supporting and promoting the interests of students' sports and physical activities in Armenia. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. The Federation maintains numerous cooperation agreements with universities across Armenia.
