The 2018 Silicon Valley Classic was a professional women's tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the 47th edition of the tournament, and part of the WTA Premier tournaments of the 2018 WTA Tour. It took place between 30 July and 5 August 2018 and was the first time the tournament is held in San Jose, California, following a move from Stanford. It was the first women's event on the 2018 US Open Series.
Lesia Tsurenko was the two-time defending champion, but chose not to defend her title.
Kiki Bertens was the defending champion, but lost in the third round to Maria Sakkari.
Ashleigh Barty was the defending champion, but withdrew before the tournament began.
Alison Riske defeated Kiki Bertens in the final, 0–6, 7–6(7–3), 7–5, to win the women's singles title at the 2019 Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. Riske saved five championship points en route to winning her second career WTA Tour singles title, her first in five years.

Defending champion Ashleigh Barty won the women's singles tennis title at the 2021 Miami Open after Bianca Andreescu retired from the final with the scoreline at 6–3, 4–0. Barty saved a match point en route to the title, in the second round against Kristína Kučová.
Veronika Kudermetova defeated Danka Kovinić in the final, 6–4, 6–2, to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 Charleston Open. Kudermetova did not drop a set en route to her first career Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles title.
Ons Jabeur defeated Jessica Pegula in the final, 7–5, 0–6, 6–2 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. It was her first WTA 1000 title, and she became the first Arab and African woman to win a WTA 1000 title.
Elena Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final, 7–6(13–11), 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 Indian Wells Open. It was her first WTA 1000 title, and the final was a rematch of the Australian Open final, won by Sabalenka. Rybakina became the first Kazakhstani player to win a WTA 1000 singles title.
Defending champion Jessica Pegula defeated Amanda Anisimova in the final, 6–3, 2–6, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 Canadian Open. It was her third WTA 1000 and sixth career WTA Tour title. Pegula became the first player to defend the women's singles title since Martina Hingis in 2000. Ranked No. 132, Anisimova became the lowest-ranked women's singles finalist at the Canadian Open since Alycia Moulton in 1984.
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula in the final, 6–3, 7–5, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2024 Cincinnati Open. She did not lose a set en route to her sixth WTA 1000 title and 15th career WTA Tour title. Pegula was attempting to become the first woman to win both the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open in the same season since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1973. The two would play each other three weeks later, in the final of the US Open; Sabalenka would beat Pegula also in straight sets.
Aryna Sabalenka is the two-time defending champion from when the tournament was last held in 2019.
