The 2018 Stanford Cardinal men's soccer team represented Stanford University during the 2018 NCAA Division I men's soccer season.
The Cardinal entered the season as the three-time defending national champions. This was the first team season since 1994 that a program enters the season as a three-time defending champion. In 1994, the Virginia Cavaliers men's soccer program entered the season as three-time defending national champions, where they would go on to win an unprecedented fourth-consecutive title.

The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference in the Western United States. It participates at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level for all sports, and its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level of NCAA football competition. The conference currently comprises two members, Oregon State and Washington State.
The 2010 Pacific-10 Conference football season began on September 2, 2010 with a victory by USC at Hawaii. Conference play began on September 11 with Stanford shutting out UCLA 35–0 in Pasadena on ESPN.
The 2011 Pac-12 Conference football season began on September 1, 2011 with Montana State at Utah and UC Davis at Arizona State. The conference's first game was played on September 10 with Utah at USC, and the final game played was the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday, December 2. Oregon defeated UCLA to claim their third straight conference title. This is the first season for the conference as a 12-team league. In July 2011, Colorado and Utah joined the conference, at which time the league's name changed from the Pacific-10 Conference.
Men's college basketball in the Pac-12 Conference began in 1915 with the formation of the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC). Principal members of the PCC founded the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) in 1959, and subsequently went by the names Big Five, Big Six, Pacific-8, and Pacific-10, becoming the Pac-12 in 2011. The Pac-12 includes the PCC as part of its history despite the two leagues being formed under separate charters. Competing in the Pac-12 are the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, California Golden Bears, Colorado Buffaloes, Oregon Ducks, Oregon State Beavers, Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Utah Utes, Washington Huskies, and Washington State Cougars.
The 2014 Oregon State Beavers men's soccer team represented Oregon State University during the 2014 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Beavers played in the Pac-12 Conference, and earned their first at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament since 2003.
The 2015 Stanford Cardinal men's soccer team represented Stanford University during the 2015 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. It was the 43rd season of the university fielding a program.
The 2016 NCAA Division I men's soccer championship game was the final game of the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, determining the national champion for the 2016 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The match was played on December 11, 2016, at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas, a soccer-specific stadium that is home to Major League Soccer club, Houston Dynamo. Stanford of the Pac-12 Conference won the match, and successfully defended their national championship. Stanford defeated Wake Forest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The crowd of 6,315 saw the match decided on penalty kicks, where Stanford prevailed on a 5–4 scoreline, following a 0–0 draw in regulation and overtime. The title was Stanford's second ever title, in their fourth-ever appearance. It was Wake Forest's second appearance in the final.
Madeline Ann Bauer is an American soccer defender. She previously played for Fleury 91 in the Division 1 Féminine, Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), and played collegiately for the Stanford Cardinal from 2012 to 2016. Bauer has represented the United States on the under-17, under-20 and under-23 national teams.
The 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer championship game was the final game of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship, determining the national champion for the 2017 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The match was played on December 10, 2017 at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania, a soccer-specific stadium that is home to the Major League Soccer club Philadelphia Union. The match was contested between Stanford of the Pac-12 Conference and Indiana of the Big Ten Conference.
The 2002 UCLA Bruins men's soccer team represented the University of California, Los Angeles during the 2002 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The Bruins won their fourth NCAA title this season, defeating Pac-10 rivals, Stanford, in the championship. To date, this is UCLA's most recent College Cup title. It was the 66th season the Bruins fielded a men's varsity soccer team, and their 11th season playing in the Pacific-10 Conference.
The 2017 Pac-12 Conference men's soccer season was the 18th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference.
The 2018–19 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bruins played their home games at Pauley Pavilion as members in the Pac-12 Conference. They were led by sixth-year head coach Steve Alford until he was fired mid-season and assistant Murry Bartow was named the interim head coach. Their lineup featured three former McDonald's All-Americans: sophomores Jaylen Hands and Kris Wilkes were both named second-team All-Pac-12, while first-year player Moses Brown was voted to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. UCLA finished the season 17–16, and lost in the second round of the Pac-12 tournament. They missed the postseason for the second time in four years.
